Anyone know if there is a way to code the VC button on the mk7 steering wheel to be a mute/pause button? I don't have VC enabled and don't plan on paying VW a ridiculous amount of $$ to have it either. My MK6 has it by default and it was very useful.
I read somewhere that if you disable it then you constantly get an error on MDI but that may have been only if you had VC enabled and wanted to disable it. I don't want the error either way.

Never posted here before but I find myself in need of some help. I've installed some LED tail lights in my 2016 MK7 GTI (https://jku.com.au/volkswagen-golf-7...5g1052200.html) using the adapter harness from ECS tuning (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...738ecs01-01kt/) to save myself having to rip the car to bits to use a factory harness.
The coding supplied for VCDS from ECS seems to have only done half the job (clearly the setup between the USDM and AUDM models are different). I now have functional turn signals though the car throws an error whenever they are used. The brake lights are working but not the running lights... which makes it fairly difficult to go anywhere at the moment.
Has anyone had and experience setting this up on and AU delivered vehicle? Alternatively can someone with access to VCDS possibly do me a favour and check what the default values are for the channels listed in the ECS instructions are? I've lost track of the original factory values which will make changing back to the stock tail lights complicated.
I know i'm asking a lot for someone who hasn't posted before but you guys are my best hope :)

Thank's for the tip, I've got the old values good to go now. At least now that the harness is in I can just disconnect it if returning to stock, don't need to take the tail gate apart again.
Korwin: OK - I'm half-way there (I think). I can explain the problem for the two outer tails (I think). The problem is that for North American Region (NAR) vehicles, the outer tails are also used for turn signals (American cars with incandescent lamps don't normally have the separate orange lamps that are used here), So the ESC instructions turn off the channels for the blinker function. However, our RoW (Rest of World) cars use some of these same channels to do other stuff (like the parking light, or what you call "running lights")Quote:

Now- the inner tail lights has me bamboozled (a bit) because I don't know how the adapter harness works. As I said before, NAR cars, don't have separate turn signal lamps, so my guess is that the harness generates this signal from what used-to-be the old inner tail light (I guess). The changes that are in the ECS instructions suggest this, but I'm reading the Leuchte programming instruction "between-the-lines". If my guess is correct. then I would implement the ECS instructions for the two inner tails (I think).
So now we come to your error messages whenever you switch-on the blinkers. Again, this is a guess, but if my hunch about the inner tails providing the turn signal function to your new fittings is correct - then it begs the question of what happened to the old wires that used to supply the rear incandescent orange turn signals (which NAR cars don't have)? If these are not used anymore and if the allied Leuchte-sets are still active, then the BCM will think that the incandescent filament is blown on both lamps - hence your error message (I think)
If my hunch is correct, you will need to shut-down the two Leuchte-sets for the old orange turn signal lamps as follows:
- (1)-Leuchte18BLK HLA60-Lasttyp 18 - change to not active ( default is 12 - Blinkleuchten)
- (1)-Leuchte19BLK HRC31-Lasttyp 19 - change to not active ( default is 12 - Blinkleuchten)

No luck with the Rear Fog Light so far using those settings. However going over the wiring and the Fog Light wire itself doesn't seem to connect to anything on the factor male connector on the outer LH. If you take a quick look at the wiring instructions the female pin for the fog light harness goes into cavity 4 on the female connect for the outer LH harness. The factory male connector runs lines on cavities 1, 2, and 3.Quote:

So note that the fog wire is already on the hatch lid tail light fitting - called "tail light 2" in the picture (it's on PIN #5). So there is no need to take the fog wire to the outer tail female connector - as per the ECS instructions. Which side of the car is your LED fog light installed - is it like the NAR cars (i.e. the Left side)?
I would simply connect the old fog wire directly to the LED fog lamp on the inner tail (you might need to run the yellow/white wire to the opposite side of the hatch, if your new tails are NAR configuration)- then change the settings as per my table
