Luckily mum already uses BP diesel due to the low sulfur content (same as me) so that shouldn't be a problem. Also smoke was reduced after a dose of Nulon diesel injector cleaner. I'll have a quick look for that EGR thread...should be a simple job to clean like it was on mine

a simple job... mate, I hope Astra was designed with "service jobs" in mind, but Golf is a$$ to work on, oh, well you better read EGR thread...
