R36 Adaptive Cruise Control

I was only quoted $2,000 for adaptive cruise control when I bought my CC (though I decided not to tick that option).

I have just picked up a couple weeks ago a new R36 Sedan with the ACC and Acc. The Adap Cruise is fantastic and so is the Adap Chassis. I drove a non-adap chassis with adap chassis car back to back and the sports mode is better than the non-adaptive standard suspension. Plus you get the benefit of standard and soft. And even in standard it will still automagically adapt to the 2 extremes of comfort and sport of its own accord depending on what your telling the car to do!

The adap cruise with front and lane assist is probably the best option to show off though. It will keep the car in the lane and brake to a complete stop automagically. Lovely!!! I can post the invoice pricing when I get back from hols on Tuesday if anyone is interested.
Rest of my specs below! Love this car!!!!! I went from a highly modded S4 that I bought new in 2002 to this lovely car. Less power now than im used to but so much more fun and easy to live with as a day to day car with much better handling than the S4 ever had.

The Adaptive Chassis suspension is certainly NOT better than the R36 suspension. As I have said before, it's one of the main reasons I chose the R36 over the CC. If the Addaptive Chassis suspension was as good as the R36, I'd own the CC and not the R36. The R36 is a stiffer and has a lot less roll, translating to a much more confident ride during spirited driving or around a track, more precise steering and a much better feel.

Putting the adaptive chassis suspension in the R36 completely takes away one of the most important parts of the R36 - its sportiness.

Hey guys I can appreciate we all have opinions here, but Im not sure you realise i drive an R36 and I did do a back to back comparison of the DCC equipped R36 against a standard one and the DCC R36 in sport mode was just as "stiff" but with better compliance and rebound control. If you havent driven them back to back then im not sure your in a position to make such a call. And you cant compare the SOFTER CC suspension to an R36, they are both intended for completely different audiences and will be completely different in setups even with DCC in both cars. Im going to try and get some emperical data from VW germany to back this up.
There are also other benefits to the DCC, the steering firms up in sport mode and the DSG and throttle maps are quickened up as well.

What the hell are you on about???

I am certainly NOT "the absolute expert and authority on EVERYTHING". Nor have I ever claimed to be...

My understanding of the addaptive chassis suspension option available on the R36 is that it is identical to that installed on the CC as standard. That's the information my dealer provided when I was in their discussing a MY10 R36 wagon with them 3 weeks ago. Having driven the CC with addaptive chassis suspension, and the R36 without, there is no doubt whatsoever that my original statement is correct given it's based on a direct comparison of the CC and R36 suspension setups.

Having said that, if the addaptive chassis suspension available on the R36 is in fact different to that installed on the CC, then I could easily be wrong. If it's different enough that when in Sport mode it reflects what the standard R36 suspension setup is like to a point of being not noticably different (the CC and R36 are most certainly noticably different), then it may in fact be a worthwhile option (for softening up the suspension if you wanted to) on the R36. I would have to do a back to back test of an R36 with it and one without it to be sure, and preferably on a track.

So tryingavw, before trying to bait someone into an argument... How about you try to understand what they're saying first?
