I am certainly NOT "the absolute expert and authority on EVERYTHING". Nor have I ever claimed to be...

My understanding of the addaptive chassis suspension option available on the R36 is that it is identical to that installed on the CC as standard. That's the information my dealer provided when I was in their discussing a MY10 R36 wagon with them 3 weeks ago. Having driven the CC with addaptive chassis suspension, and the R36 without, there is no doubt whatsoever that my original statement is correct given it's based on a direct comparison of the CC and R36 suspension setups.

Having said that, if the addaptive chassis suspension available on the R36 is in fact different to that installed on the CC, then I could easily be wrong. If it's different enough that when in Sport mode it reflects what the standard R36 suspension setup is like to a point of being not noticably different (the CC and R36 are most certainly noticably different), then it may in fact be a worthwhile option (for softening up the suspension if you wanted to) on the R36. I would have to do a back to back test of an R36 with it and one without it to be sure, and preferably on a track.

So tryingavw, before trying to bait someone... How about you try to understand what they're saying first?
expected that long reply... will get around to reading it later

And even in standard it will still automagically adapt to the 2 extremes of comfort and sport of its own accord depending on what your telling the car to do!

The adap cruise with front and lane assist is probably the best option to show off though. It will keep the car in the lane and brake to a complete stop automagically. Lovely!!! I can post the invoice pricing when I get back from hols on Tuesday if anyone is interested.
Rest of my specs below! Love this car!!!!! I went from a highly modded S4 that I bought new in 2002 to this lovely car. Less power now than im used to but so much more fun and easy to live with as a day to day car with much better handling than the S4 ever had.

    Hi H,

It's good to hear a positive review of an option i've ticked for my car. I'm waiting on delivery of an R36 wagon in March and i've got the adaptive cruise on my current car (Lexus IS250 Sports Luxury) and it's the bomb.

I'm interested to read that the VW version will actually bring your vehicle to a stop, the Lexus disengages at 47kmh and reverts back to driver input.

Also keen to see your invoice with regards to options pricing as we both have an identical list of options ticked.

    Cheers,

Should we just say that everyone is happy with their own cars & leave it as that. Afterall we are talking about raw emotions here & that is a subjective matter.

Hmmm.. does the VW cruise automatically re-accellerate once the stopped car start moving as well? If so... and they can figure out how to handle stop lights and corners, this a potentially revolutionary system on a next gen acc...

BTW I have finally started to use my (standard) cruise control on my CC. I was very impressed at the ease in which I could incrementally and easily make adjustments to speed. Unlike other cruise controls its also easy to set actual speeds making speed limited driving a breeze.

Agreed! Just remember how much they're out by though. 118kph set on my cruise is actually 111kph. 65kph is actually 60kph and 88kph is 80kph.

Hi Rocket, do you refer to the inaccurate speeds on the analogue or the digital speedo? The cruise control when it's set gies you a digtial speed reading at the bottom left doesn't it?....which i am assuming is accurate.

Leagle the acc does not recognise traffic lights or corners. In fact it has 3 scenarios seen on the erWIN manual where it is recommended to be monitored rather than used, all of which seems innoculous & common. Not sure if it is sig or just the germans begin cautious.

Hey mate... I'm referring to the digital speed reading as per the cruise control setting. Compared with the actual speed as indicated on my climate control when in engineering mode (See this thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=39138).

I was amazed just how far out it is and have been past Hwy Patrol with my digital cruise readout reading 122kph in a 110kph zone and they didn't move. Actual speed then was 114kph.

I see, didn't realise that's inaccurate too but heh on the upside not too many cars are passing me anywhere nowadays! Good to know the correct speed though, oh well you can't win them all...more excuse to speed! Happiness is only a matter of perspective

I tried the Adaptive Cruise after seeing this thread and can confirm that it will pull the car all the way to a complete stop - although not at the cruising distance . It's a little bit strange trying to trust the car to brake to complete stop for you, but it does a good job even applying greater or less force to pull the car up at a given distance - does feel like a very subtle version of the ABS kicking in. I even tried it on a slight incline and the car engages the park brake once stopped to prevent rolling.

The car didn't start moving afterwards once traffic got moving... I reckon that would be too much to ask!
