VCDS (VAG-COM) codes and programmable options for Golf Mk7

Hi Don,

First off, thank you very much for all your expertise and help! This is my first VW and it combines but my love for working on the car mechanically as well as tweaking it through VCDS. Truly a lot of fun!

Now to ask for some help! I currently have Incandescent tail lights and am trying to get the turn signals to work like the LED pace car setting. I stumbled upon someone who did this, but I would like to modify his setup just a bit. Below is the link to his post and the instructions on how to do it.

What I'm trying to do is enable the feature to work the same while the brakes are applied. Currently when brakes are applied it just acts like a normal turn signal with the inner tail lights on. I'd like to keep the inner tail lights working as is, just have the turn signal alternate inner to outter like it does without the brakes applied. Hopefully you can shed some insight on this and help me out :) if not, I'll have to check out your guide and his and see what I can come up with!

Please forgive me if you already know this, but Leuchte programming has a very defined and very limited role in the operation of a lamp on a mk7. The instructions in a Leuchte-set simply describes the type of signal and when it will be applied to a particular PIN on the BCM. In the case of the Leuchte-set Leuchte22BR MA57, the pin is PIN#57 on the A socket. You will need to experiment with this command to find the initiating mechanism- or perhaps someone else here knows how to initiate this setting once it is applied to an Alpha channel

First of all I am using A3 Sedan 8V which has same codings as MQB.
I got the reversing problem.

How about having flash effect in any light?
I can do it with turn signals because there is two phase for turn signals but nothing else.

Let's imagine I want to have flashing effect(on/off) for light X? What should be done.

0bLiViOuS: Hello and thank you for the kind words.

First, I would suggest that you read and try to understand my Leuchte-primer because it hopefully will help explain what's happening within the 19 x adaption channels that constitute each of the Leuchte-sets for the exterior lamps on MQB platform vehicles in general and on a mk7 in particular.

As for the changes in the links that you posted, I'm not entirely sure that I understand what you want to do (our tail light fittings down here have a different arrangement with the turn-signal), but I suspect that the answer lies in the way that the lighting functions have been assigned to the alpha channels. Not sure if you are aware, but when a lamp is asked to undertake multiple functions (like the rear tail lights), the merit-order is determined by the Alpha characters.

Here's an example of what I mean- in your links, the outer tail light is asked to perform three distinct functions: Brake, Parking-light and turn signal. When you have switched-on the turn signal and at the same time, you put your foot on the brake and also turn-on the rotary light switch, how does the rear tail light know which of these functions to perform?

Answer: Leuchte programming enforces a strict priority order to resolve the conflict in my example above. The priority order is in the alpha channels: HG>FE>DC>BA.

In the links that you posted above (for example), the suggested changes have the Brake function as the lowest priority on the outer lamps (brakes are on the AB alpha-pair), but the Brake function is the 2nd highest priority on the inner lamps (brakes are on the EF alpha pair).

My hunch is that a judicious re-assignment of functions to the alpha channels might give you what you want - I think.

PS: Before you start tinkering and because this tweak involves messing with 76 x adaptation channels (i.e. 4 x Leuchte-sets), it might be prudent to make an admap of the BCM on your car, first (just in case you need to roll-back the settings to their original values)

Kuray:Alas I suspect that you will be disappointed in my response! Clearly, a flashing light function is possible with Leutch programming because settings like Lichthupe generell appear in the Lasttype channel options.

We just need to discover how to initiate the function (i.e. which mechanism actually switches-on the function). Again, experimentation is needed unless anyone else here can advise

Thank you Don! I haven't had a chance to get through Leuchte-primer and was just picking it up when I decided to check the forum first! This is great to understand a bit more and on how it works and, like you said, it may be just a simple change of the priority. I eat this stuff up so one day I hope to be a Leuchte-guru like yourself!

I will be sure to make an admap before I start tinkering. Always need to be able to roll back if things go south :)

I checked which lights uses "Lichthupe generell" option and saw only Main Beams and Xenon Shutters(High Beams) use this. There is no flashing example for low beams. They just open or not so I don't know why those lights have "Lichthupe generell" option.

Hi guys, really interested in activating WLAN on my UK GTD with Discover Pro built Sept 2013 (so MIB I). Do I understand correctly that it's just a tick box in VCDS to activate it, or does one need access to VCP ?
