Alexandre: hi. You are of course talking about the "Information Electr. (J794)" controller which currently does not have an RT Label.

As far as I know, you can't separately download this Label file, as yet- it will come as part of the substantive VCDS software from Ross Tech.

As to when it will be available, I suspect that this will be "in the fullness of time" - to quote a fictitious government official!

If you want a more definitive answer, you could join the RT forum and ask your question directly to the "Benevolent Dictator" - Uwe's handle on the forum.

Anyone having problems with the Rain Auto Close tweak?

I am able to get my windows to close but not the sunroof - that just stays open. I have checked the settings and can't find a reason as to why that part isn't functioning... Global Open/Close works fine. It's got me stumped!

I haven't been able to get it to work, and in fact the convenience opening is not working since I tried the tweak. What car do you have, as I would be interested in seeing your adaption settings to see if mine are different to yours, in particular these settings:

(1)-Access control 2-Komfortbedienung global

(2)-Access control 2-Comfort opening

(3)-Access control 2-Comfort closing

(6)-Access control 2-Funk Komfort schliessen

(7)-Access control 2-Funk Komfort oeffnen

(19)-Access control 2-Kessy Komfort oeffnen

(20)-Access control 2-Kessy Komfort schliessen

I believe my issues started when I tried recoding the code for auto rain in the coding section of cent elec with the beat version. Prior to this, although I had menu settings for turning the rain tweak on, out did not work. As DV52 pointed out, one of the reasons may have been that the 12.12 software version of VCDS did not allow the coding change, which appeared to be one of the tweaks that needed to happen on other models of VW.

I've tried putting those unusual setting back to what I believe to be the original which incidentally coincided to what you thought, and have replied to your email. I came up with pretty much the same "original" stuff as you, but still with no joy. For others following this thread, I have also looked to see if fuses were blown but there does not appear to be a fuse for "convenience opening", and the fuse for the sunroof is obviously working as the sunroof opens and closes normally.

I wonder if it is possible to do a "hard reset" of the ECU as I am tending to think it is something in there that is corrupted.

Nut: As you are already aware, those adaptation channels that you listed above are not part of the Auto RainClosing tweak. I'm not sure that an ECU reset is the answer. There really is only a very, very low probability that the RT software has caused a glitch in another part of the car. I say this simply because no-one else has reported your problem and I'm aware of many who have used the beta software for this tweak. Whilst not all of these folk have been successful in getting Auto RainClose to work, none have indicated that the convenience close function has been disabled when they have reverted back to the original settings.

Another suggestion is to make an Adaptation map of the BCM and compare it with some one else's map. I've put mine up on the net, but to be 100% sure that there are no spurious values hiding somewhere,you really need a map from the same model car. I'm not sure how proficient you are with excel, but it's relatively easy with a spreadsheet (once you have the data).

I've done a compare exercise between the BCM on my 103TSI and a TDI (which belongs to TDIJeff) and there are many similarities in "Stored values", but there are also many differences. So you really need another Mk7 R as a reference. I'm happy to do a comparison sheet for you if you send me the data.

Please be aware though that the adaptation map for the BCM on a mk7 is quite large (mine has about 1,700 lines). So make sure that the battery is OK when you make the map, or keep the car running (and don't stop the process once you start it).

Thats' why I'm hoping that those channels may have been different to mine, and it may allow me to reprogram them. I did closely follow the instructions for the rain tweak, which is why I was so surprised that the auto close function is not working, particularly when there are no fault codes indicating something unto wards....

I'll look into a BCM map in the next few days and see if I can get another r owner involved. I agree that it is probably not the RT software, but something else I'm missing. Unfortunately for me the car is as standard as I can make it now (at least that is what I think) in terms of the tweaks being discussed here....

Well, sort of. I've managed to get the convenience open and close features working with the key fob and convenience close (but not yet open) with the KESSY. Post 82 here: VWVortex.com - VAGCOM - What is this and how do I do it? (new to VW) had some of the functions that needed to be turned back on for the convenience opening to work. I also reset the whole Discover Media to factory instead of just the opening and closing section, and made sure lights were on auto, etc. I don't think that should have made any difference, but it may have given that the rain close does depend on the those 2 functions being selected.

In any case, it's working now (not the rain yet). To be honest, the selections had been made for a little while and I was a little surprised when it finally worked. I think I may have not had the lights on automatic for some of the trials, but I doubt if that was the cause of the problems. I still think there may be an issue with the ECU.

DV52 - thanks so much for your help:bowdown::bowdown:. I only hope I can pay it back for some other members. I'm going to redo the channel map for my r on the weekend to get something I know is working for the future. I did one earlier tonight and there are around 1990 parameters in that module.

I may try the rain close again later this weekend if I have time.

Incidentally, all the recode was done with the beta 14.8.1 software. After having a good read of the rosstech forums, it would appear that the beta software is probably the only one that will be fully compatible with the mk7....

Nut: Very good news indeed-Well Done!! I wasn't aware that your model Golf had KESSY - so I was surprised to read your interest in this feature. And I agree that everything (including the wind-back process) should be done with the Beta SW - I'll include a note in my tweak instructions to this effect.

Just out of interest, I read post 82 on VWVortex as you indicated. For reference and if you are still having problems, I enclose below the settings for my Golf for the 8 adaptation channels mentioned in nexelmatt's solution. I've marked the channels where my default values are different to those suggested by nexelmatt. Not sure that I can say why the differences have occured, but I provide the table for your reference.

PS: as a quid-pro-quo, would you mind sending me a copy of the Adaptation channel maps from your car when (and if) you complete them? I find these maps to be a great learning tool!

The SAD values are for the sunroof opening - I am not sure whether you have the sunroof in your vehicle??? There is actually another value you can (supposedly) adjust in the adaptions under that that allows either the tilt or full open.

It is interesting that your comfort opening is not active. Maybe it is controlling a different function apart from the radio (funk) settings?? Do your windows automatically open with just an instantaneous selection of open? I will do more research to see if I can get an answer.

It is also interesting that it is one of the few English menu items. I'm not sure why some of these things are happening, particularly when certain adaptions appear that they should be functional, when others aren't. The rain close function is a typical example of this? It is almost like the car does not always fully accept the adaptions selected, although it shows in the channels as being active or not active. Maybe the need to reset all functions in the Discover Media is more important than we think? What is further interesting is that there is a global comfort control adaption. I guess in time a lot more will be known about all this, and there will be codings that also start to make more sense.

As for the KESSY, all golf R's in Australia have the keyless access and start. I can touch the handle when closing and it will lock the doors. If I hold my hand against the handle with a window or the sunroof open it will close similar to use the key fob. What is puzzling is that although I have selected KESSY opening as active and VCDs shows this, holding my hand against the handle will only unlock the doors - it will not open the windows or sunroof. Maybe I need to recode that channel to not active, reset the discover media and the reselect it to active - this is not expected behaviour and leads me to believe something g else is going on.

Update: with KESSY opening you need to open the doors and then press on the outside of the handle. I only discovered this after translating a few international websites.... The KESSY opening function is in fact working on my golf. Apparently it is deactivated on purpose as standard as there is a slight chance that it may open the windows under certain conditions eg in a car wash or with certain other condensation events. I guess the kicker here is that you have to have the key fob close to the car for it too work as well....


I'll send you the adaption channels maps as I do them over the next week or so. I have decided to make a backup of all settings in the car for future reference, and I know that you are a strong supporter of doing this, and I can only agree with you after going through this. The Autoscan is good, but it is not good enough when you really need to find out what's going on.

Nut: thanks for sending the first lot of Adap files for your Golf R -they were extremely interesting (especially the BMC data) I've created an Access data base that compares the BMC adaptation channels for a 103TSI, a 110TDI and the Golf "R". The BMC in your car is a 2nd generation controller. Lot's more stuff in there than in the other two models. I'll post-up the database onto Dropbox shortly for those who are interested.

Coincidentally, I got an email from colleague on another forum that was having similar problems to you (not related to the Auto RainClosing tweak).
