VCDS (VAG-COM) codes and programmable options for Golf Mk7

@ArdiL: No thanks needed - it sounds like you found the answer yourself (i.e. changing the coding on 2 x additional Leuchte-sets - Leuchte16BLK and Leuchte17TFL). On the version of tail-light fittings on the picture in my link, these 2 x Leuchte-sets are used to operate the second (inner) turn-signal lamps!

Anyhow, well done - and thank you for sharing your work with the forum community (that's what forums are meant to do)! I've added your tweak to the mkVII-vcds-tweak-reference-thread as acknowledgement for your generous contribution!

My responses to your questions below:

Question 1 - Alas No, the reversing light is a bog-ordinary lamp. The color of this light is predetermined by the physical lamp (this lamp is NOT like your front DRL/Turn-signal lamp)!
Question 2 - hmm...I would be extremely surprised (flabbergasted, in fact) if the "empty slots" were populated with actual lamps. Vehicles that roll-off the VW assembly-line are renowned for being "production efficient" - meaning that the amount of copper/equipment in these cars is just sufficient to provide for the options that the buyer paid-for (ain't no profit for VW shareholders in supplying more than the bare minimum :cool:)!

I am there with you man. I realized that the inner slot is used for the highbeam.
Just got my cable and will change the rears like yours, then will check the fronts. Thank you for your post!

As I used a lot of copy and paste between the coding instructions I found a slight mistake with my instructions set.
Lichtansteuerung HD AB 16 = Only if Closed / ALways
Lichtansteuerung HD AB 17 = Only if Closed / Always
These should be the same value for both.
The inner tail lights (left & right) will operate only if hatchback is closed

I have copied the settings of Leuchte 5 to Leuchte 3 and nothing happened to the inner led. So I think we are lucked out on this one.

I have a 2019 Golf GTI (7.5 MY19, Australian delivered). I bought some genuine VW dynamic tail lights - Euro 7.5 Golf R type. The VW kit is called ("Electrical conversion kit LED tail lights with sweeping indicator". The instructions in the box advise that I need to wire as follows:

• Run new wire from BCM (connector C). Remove pin 9. Remove pin 3, and insert into pin 9. Put new wire into pin 3,
• Run new wiring to tail lights as per diagram (the provide details on pins to change)
• Code using ODIS with code 3EC1A

How do I code the adaption(s) using ODB Eleven ?

@deadcat : Hi.

Hmmm..... I don't know the answer to your question because code 3EC1A is a SVM (Software Version Management) function in ODIS that contains its own bunch of (embedded) coding changes.

First- you don't say how this car was factory built (it matters) - but I suspect that it has a factory wiring loom for OEM fitted LED tail-lights (i.e. the car was NOT built with incandescent tail-lights).

For the BCM (the module that controls the car's 35 x exterior lights and the module that OBD11 calls "central electrics") on a Golf mk7.5, and for socket C:

• pin#9= Bulb 2 for rear left turn signal. This is the "inner" blinker position and it's called "M80" in the wiring diagram
• pin #3 =Bulb 2 for rear right turn signal. Again, this is the inner blinker position and it's called "M81"

The reason why I conclude that this car was factory built with LED tails is because if there is already a wire on pin#9 & pin#3, then the car MUST have inner turn-signal lamps. Therefore the car can't have incandescent tails (which don't have inner blinkers).

So, it's unclear (to me at least) how the new tails operate by just making only the 2 x wire changes listed in your post.

My hunch (guess, really) is that there must be additional wiring changes made down-stream of the BCM connectors. For example, it's quite possible (IMO, of course) that the inner/outer turn-signal lamps are now connected together on each car-side somewhere at the fitting end - there is no reason to have these lamps separately wired since they operate together for each car-side. Again I'm entirely guessing, but maybe this is reason for the strange short "connector" shown on the upper portion of the rear window in your picture - perhaps?

If I'm correct, its possible that the previous inner-left/right turn-signal pins on the BCM (as in your post) are no longer used for their original OEM purpose. Instead, its possible that these pins are now used to provide power to the LED chaser circuits inside the new dynamic turn-signal fittings - maybe?

Of course, my entire hypothesis is just supposition based on the limited data in your post

Unless another, wiser forum colleague can provided a more-informed response - it might help if you can supply more words about this project?

Not sure if this has to do with programming or if it’s just the controller used (iirc, the controller was 3rd party, but rear tail lights are genuine).

Has anyone heard of rear tail LED dynamic indicator function for the MK7 GTI being disrupted after a couple of blinks, by either tapping the brake or not even doing anything?

For a while now, I’ve noticed when initially indicating, the indicator LED lights would scroll across as they should, but upon tapping the brake, they’d flash like normal indicators (no scroll).

This has probably been happening for much longer without me noticing. All my testing in the garage is perfect - indicators work every time I’ve tested the left/right/hazards, but when out & about (& I only discovered it when I was parked in front of glass shop frontage) it’s very flaky…

Knew I should’ve picked up the installers when they mentioned they’d used a 3rd party controller (I thought I was getting all genuine parts…..)
