No, my wife has a nanny's car (the Tig) ... which will kick your Pirelli's but any way you like to look at it ....

    Wow great argument there.
I am happy to have my tiguan, just becasue you are too blind to see it has more potential than most other cars for the price you pay.

I will happily blitz drivers with my $40k 200kw AWD machine.
And just so you know, its only 250kg heavier than a 5dr GTI.

The pirelli is a good bit of kit for the money but the Tiguan is a better option as it has a greater potential for everything the Golf can do (except maybe motorkhana but how many times would you be doing that???)

well i would probably choose the mk6, if it wasn't so ugly! People just buy the mk6, because it is "new". Its is hardly an upgrade, more like a facelift.

Plus i got a pirelli over mk6, as
    1. a brand new mk6 there is a long waiting list
    2. The pirelli i bought had less kms than a mk6 demo plus cheaper.

that's not really my point. I'm not saying you shouldn't or should like the tiguan, it is your choice. Maybe we are also at a different stage of our life. You are probably mid 30s, therefore a Tiguan would be more suitable, i'm in my early 20s, i don't think many people would choose a Tiguan, even if it does have alot of potential.

My dad owns a mercedes ml63 amg, its bloody quick, it doesn't mean i would want one at this stage of my life.

Plus an APR ECU upgrade on the pirelli, which cost like $1500 would blitz your Tiguain

Ummm ... actually no ... from a standing start the Tig would have you easily ....

Bit of education needed here ... do yourself a favour and go drive 2 equally powered cars, 1 FWD and 1 AWD and see what happens. Then come back and tell us ....

EDIT: and the higher the power these cars make the bigger the difference ....

    I am 23.

Can a pirelli be had for under 40K with APR ecu update?
My Tig will come in under 40k for Intake and APR Chip plus AWD to get the power to the ground.

The pirelli is a different engine setup than the Tiguan though (K04) so the comparison is not valid.

The mk6GTI and Tiguan share the same engine setup so they are comparable in terms of power output.

The main problem is that 99% of the time, no one will ever use these cars to their true potential (track/motorkhana etc) so the car that is most practical is the better option imho.

I know newer always seems better butt there are a few improvements but not saying anyone with a MK5 GTI/Pirelli should upgrade.

I was just doing the comparison based on a demo Pirelli at the dealers (asking price $49,999) vs new MK6 GTI, and considering they want a lot i'd go for a MK6.

thats the point, a hatch is more racey look whichever way you look at it.

ummm yeah, i wouldn't pay more than 38-40k for one now, and that's why that one is still sitting in the yard.
