to my chagrin i regret to announce that my wife had the first skoda accident in Australia (my poor beautiful skoda)

i should also mention she was not at fault

the worst part of the whole deal is that there (according to skoda themselves) is not one single authorized skoda repairer in Australia WTF

so now we have to wait a minimum of six to eight weeks to have a simple bumper fixed sounds simple how ever apart from exhaust fumes leaking into car and no rear sensors.

we also cant drive in the rain or it will leak.

i just can not believe a manufacturer would enter the market without considering this type of thing happening.

the repairer had to X-ray our car and send the images to Czech to find out what parts to order and how to fix it.

am i being stupid or should i be peeved about the mess

Sorry to hear your Skoda has been sconned.

But, of course you won't find any authorised Skoda panelbeaters, and you never will. VGA aren't going to go out of their way to see which panel shops they should and shouldn't endorse as authorised repairers. Both the panelshop and the parts supplier (i.e. Skoda dealership) are incompetent by the sounds of things. The dealership should have provided the panelshop with body repair manuals, and the panelbeater should have the vehicle pulled down already and have parts ordered asap. Your insurer will hurry them along, I can guarantee you that, especially if you have a free hire car as a part of your insurance premium.

I do so hope that Skoda ...in Australia, is not going to turn out to be the yet latest version, of that other ..."failed experiment" with Eastern European manufacturers of "volume market cars" .......... LADA.....!

No comparison (LADA) different ball game mate. I work for insurance at the moment and its not only Skoda that has diffuculty with parts, i had to wait for a month for a turret for a Mitsubishi outlander!!!! It came from Japan. It should take 14 days for Skoda/Vw to deliver a part from Germany and behind the bar cover is the beaver panel - not sure how badly dmaged it is but you dont need a designated panel beater or authorised beater to repair it ,a car is a car mate, sure there is designated jigs for the likes of Audi,Porsche and BMW but in general most panel beaters can tackle anything given enough time to do so. Having said that sorry to hear of your bad luck mate and i hope you have a happy ending. Parking sensor im sure would be a Vw part number too, sounds like excuses from the panel shop if you ask me mate.

Take your Skoda to someone who knows how to fix VWs, they should be able to figure out what parts they need from looking at what is damaged. Needing to send X-rays (!) to the manufacturer sounds like BS to me. And for what sounds like a simple hit up the @rse !!! What would they do if a Skoda had a serious shunt (yeah, I know, write it off as too expensive to repair).

Now if Skoda can't supply the required parts then that is a different story - AFAIK importers/manufacturers are required by law to supply parts for a minimum period (5 years after supply finishes ?). If they can't supply the necessary parts within a short period you could suggest to them they need to consider cannibalising one of their cars to get you back on the road in a serviceable vehicle, otherwise they might not like publicity about lack of parts support in Australia for their new brand (ie convince them it is in their best interests to help you out).

Yep point exactly mate!!!! No good for publicity. Like i say at worst the beaver reqs replacement or pull/repair, i agree the panel shop are full of the brown mate

Wow. A few weeks ago mine copped a door in a carpark, of course no details were left. Impact was on the side mirror and ended up shattering the indicator lens cover and cracking the mirror housing. Obviosuly the damage was a lot less then getting hit up the rear but parts took only 4 days from the dealer and minutes to fit.
