The answer to all the questions in the first paragraph is YES, this is correct. The Mk 4 Golf has 2 reverse lights. When you turn a blinker on and shut down the engine, it turns on that side headlight. Hence the light warning.
Sup, first question. I have two reverse lights.........I thought golfs only had one? could the person before me have modded it too have two? weird. ALSO when i turn the engine off with the indicator on. The noise for leaving your lights on sounds and the Corresponding brake light(or taillight didn't check) is on. :S strange....
Also I am just wondering about safe boost levels for a stock 1.8t, stock turbo. What are you guys running ?
Steve

Mk. 4 GTI Golf
Bailey DV30 Diverter Valve
Custom Stainless steel 2.5" Downpipe
Dieselgeek Sigma 5 Short Shifter
It'll produce up to 1 BAR of boost when chipped. Around half of that standard.

1 bar = 14.5 psi right??
Mine's on 16 psi, basically stock. All Ive got so far is a baileys DV and an intake. Whats going on there? Doesnt seem right. I Want to chip it very soon to get a bit more out of it
Be surprised if that hasn't been meddled with TBH.

I am running around 12psi atm, What Sort of levels are fine for the k03 and pretty stock engine?
Yeah Im beginning to think so. Ive found a few little surprises with this car that Ive been fixing as theyve come up, and just about got it to where it should be. Think I def need a vag check run on it.
Ta Ben. As long as you do oil changes on time, these motors last for ever. Neglect them and it will burn you.
I had a Passat 1.8T in the UK I bought it with 125000 miles on, full dealer history, ran like a top.
12PSI is high for an un-chipped car and low for a chipped one. You won't get a decent boost reading in first or second though. The engine winds up too quick and uses boost faster than the turbo can make it. In 3rd or 4th the turbo gets a chance to do it's job, so you will get the correct readings.
Gavin
Yep - as a precaution I changed oil every 7500, filter every 15K...
