    Just looking at the way they are put together they look the same as my recaro's - I may be wrong...

    All Mk4 GTI's here in Aus got sun roof, leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, either recaros in the earlier ones or the vw knock off's for the later ones and climatronic as standard equipment.

    dont mean to hijack, but does anyone know if the later model linkage can be put in an early model?

    is this on the shifter end or gearbox end?

    main difference that i noticed was the trip computer - i would have liked one but i couldnt find a later model in the same condition, low k's, colour etc etc as the late 1999 model i ended up getting, so i came to a comprimise i guess

    was looking for leather seats, but for starters the ones i found were in bad nick (cracked/creased leather etc), and i liked the red/black recaro's due to the more 'sporty' look and the fact that i wouldnt burn my arse cheeks off after leaving the car in the sun for 5 min....

    i spose its a question of whether the little things matter to you or not...

    Its tricky as the gearbox end as well as the shifter end would need to be replaced as they completely different 2 the later models. I was told that a shifter kit may fix some of the issues like it being a bit sticky from 1 to 2nd and that notchy feeling when shifting. But i actually like the clicking into gear the later models don't do this and just slide into gear.

    Cheers fellas, looks like I'll probably be looking for a 1999-ish model since I like features and I'm not too fussed about MY.

    How much would you expect to sell a 1999 GTI for? NSW, manual. I only ask because the price varies so widely between sellers and sites.

    Edit: Also, generally what price am I looking for with

    * New clutch (if I go chasing power/chipping) & install
    * Front and rear strut braces
    * New rear exhaust section

    Doe VWWC have a for sale section?

    Ooh, here's a question for you. About what RPM does the turbo properly spool up? And what's the cruising RPM at 110?

    By 2k its really pulling - If its chipped you'll get a real hit at about 3500 aswell.

    3000rpm = 120km/h, 110 is about 2800 or so.
