Two problems.7 1/2" wheels will stick out of the guards, and 205-40/17 is the correct size for 17" wheels.
Yup, I've searched and nothing came up to answer my questions - and plus i'm noob to these things so be nice..
... my question is; since the Polo's stock offset is +43 - would it still rub if i fitted 17x7.5 +48 rims on? That means it is sticking out an extra 5mm right? which doesn't seem to be enough to touch the guards, is this correct? Or have I totally lost the plot lol
If not, what's the minimum/maximum offset of an 17" rim am I'm able to fit that will sit flush on the guards? Even better, the people who have fitted 17" rims on their car - mind saying what your specs are that works for you?
I'd be looking at fitting 205/45/17 tyres..
Cheerio spaghettios!
edit: I'll be lowering my car at about 1.5"+ in the near future, so you might like to take that into perspective

^^^ what MACCAA said. I have 17x7" wheels, with a 38 offset, which - IMHO - are about the max width you can put on the Pog. You can fit 7.5" width, but 205x40 tyres look 'stretched'....and 215x35 are hard to find, expensive, and may still rub![]()
