Coilovers or find the extra $$$?

I'm really keen to change the suspension / springs on my GTi (even though i don't pick it up until Friday...)

I was hoping to get away with $1500 or less for a decent improvement in handling, but mostly tire grip under acceleration and cornering...

So far i'm seeing fixed Eibach springs for <700 and Hottuning coilovers for <900. Are coilovers better than fixed or is the benefit the height adjustment only?

likely to cost me a few hundred for fitting.

For a full suspension but basic kit the Weitech its about 2.5K installed and more like 3 for a K&N basic package.

These are all pretty generic pricing, so i'm not sure if i'd save much shopping around.

i know there are heaps of threads asking for advice here, but I'm thinking of just the springs for now and see how i go (could allways sell the old springs on here if i upgrade).

    please tuners, some advice...

Springs shouldn't be anywhere near 700 buck maybe 400 max I have h&rs plus the rear sway bar and it makes a huge difference in cornering, might be another option you can go.

Coilovers will be better but I don't know how good hot-tuning are for performance might be more show than anything else someone else will have to chime in for that.

I think you mean Koni not K&N.

But if it's not just for looks, I wouldn't go hottuning coilovers. So it's either springs or proper coils in my book. And I'd only bother doing something once, so I'd go coils straight up - from a reputable brand.

LOL, I would imagine K&N would be a bit soft and spongy for suspension

I got my Eibachs for $800 fitted, but I guess being in Perth its more expensive.. so depends where u r.
They got rid of alot of roll thru corners and it seems 2 hold on abit longer b4 pushing wide, but looks average on the looks front...

    K&N

Well thanks to everyone who pointed out my K&N vs Koni dyslexia.

Anyhoo, A nice man has quoted me a nice price on some nice springs (H&R - did I get that one right?) which will hopefully be.... nice.

I've been thinking about the RSB to boot, but as I don't plan on doing a lot of hard cornering, think i should leave some avenues to improve later when I'm used to the handling (Have not even got the damn thing yet...)

Would love to get the Bilsen Shocks to make the set, but given the cost, its going to have to wait.

Thanks to those who provided feedback, really assisted.
