Dropping Polo 50mm with 18's
Hey Guys,
Love the forums, great to see other VW enthusiasts in Aus. Picked up myself a 2007 Polo GTI yesterday as seen in my avatar and wanted to drop it 50mm with 18x8's on 215's. Has anyone done this successfully? If so could you post a pic. Would be most appreciated. I don't really care about the legality of ride height as long as it isn't hitting the underbody.
I'd be prepared to go with 17's just to get the car down 50mm as the little car is way too high out of the factory but prefer 18's
Anyone dropped it 50mm with 17's even?'
I want to sort out suspension/wheels in the next fortnight so any help would be appreciated

Congratulations on your new car
and welcome to the forum. Sorry to be negative but your figures are toooo optimistic. Look around there are a few posts about suspension and wheel sizes. But i think ull more than likely end up with 205/17 and 35mm drop at the end.

Hey swatty, I'm riding on 18x7.5's with 215/35 and plan to install some H&R's(35mm drop) on pretty soon. I've just got to find exactly what the offset of the rims are first. One of the member on this forum(Plautinos?) has the same setup with 42 offset and says he does not have any problems.
APR'ed V2, 18", BMC CDA. 3" Custom Downpipe, Forge TIP/Diverter Valve. Coming soon: getting my FMIC fitted, KO4!!

Oh cool dude.
I'd definitely consider 18x7.5 on a 35mm drop.
Let me know how it turns out!!

I've just done the H&R's and have got a 30mm drop all round. No idea if a coilover could get you lower. Depending on the roads you regularly drive, 18" may not be so user friendly with such a drop too.

i did it more than 50mm though!

18" 35mm offset 8 inch wide! One word of warning handles like poo and was so harsh on bumps, went back to 17"

i always changing wheels getting these friday

nice pics, thanks.
yeah I am sticking with 17's. Going to get something small like 17x7's and then just drop it as much as possible.
