VW unveils capped-price servicing program for cars sold in 2013

FYI VW has announced capped-price servicing program for cars sold since 1st of Jan 2013, see pricing info in the link Volkswagen unveils capped-price servicing program |Â*CarAdvice, overall this is far cheaper than the pre 2013 service pricing, especially the 2nd year/30000km and 4th year/60000km services for Tiguan.

Congratulation to all 2013 owners, this is a good news indeed. VW Australia, how about showing some respect for people who purchased your wonderful car in the last five years?

The columns for the Tiggy say 2010- 2013 or 2012- 2013. To me that means they have backdated it .. who knows though.

Prices arent too bad either.. if you like the apprentice practicing on your car that is :p

The dealer told me about it when I picked up my Tiguan last week.

The 'capped' has totally different meaning to Toyota's capped servicing, ie: toyota charges $200-$700 normally for minor-major ones but customer pays $170 only for each service minor-major for 3 yrs.

VW used to charge $330 for 15,000km service now they cap or charge you anyway at $410.

Recently paid $544 for 30,000km service with VW which I initially had been quoted $470 incl brake fluid and pollen filter. When i arrived that morning*the manager said brake fluid is extra and $470 incl brake fluid is far too cheap he said. I argued and then he was willing to discount a bit with the brake flush job.

I took a quick peek at the "capped" price for the 30k/24th month which was $397.00
and then "Additional items not included in the quoted capped price" Pollen Filter $49 + Brake Fluid $127 which is (required?) every 2 years. So I wonder what is this "cap" all about. Probably have to factor this in to the 60k service too.

All it means is all the dealerships that are participating are all charging the same price.

Got my Tiguan serviced on Tuesday (30k service) and total cost, including supply only of a set of 4 slimline weathershields, was $485

The 15k service cost me $390, or $410 with a wheel alignemnt, so they have set a precedent with me. If they dont to service it that cheap for the life of the car i will simply service it myself.

I was shocked at that call i am sure we have all had. We found some things with your car that need attention...

3 x wiper blades because they leave streaks.... well that would be the bugs you that you havent cleaned off the windscreen causing that, cost of $97, uuummmmmm no thanks

the pollen filter is dirty, so what lol, cost $57, ummmmm no thanks either lol

$97 for the wiper blades isn't bad, considering that it appears they haven't quoted the labour to fit them.

They're about $35-40ea for the front, plus what ever the rear one is worth. For some reason, VW spec'd them with non-replacable inserts. So you've got to buy the whole blade. Might be worth looking into retro-fitting blades off a Golf or Passat, as the inserts are about $15ea. You'd have to double-check on the lengths of them, though.

Pollen filter is around $30, and you can fit them yourself quite easily. I'd recommend it by now. At 30,000klms, it's bound to be blocked with leaf litter and other crap the air intake might've ingested.

Bosch front wiper blades can be had around $50-$60 shipped from

Mann filter pollen one is around US$13 plus shipping from amazon. Amazon shipping rates are heaps cheaper than ECS / eBay sellers.

In saying that, i paid the full $95 front blades. Plus pollen filter with the 2 yrs service at VW last month cos i was a bit lazy to shop around that day.

Yes, but be aware that there are lots of fake parts or rejects as well. The easiest thing is to make the genuine box, so they appear to be genuine.

Not so long time ago, I've bought a 6 pack of Mann oil filters for VAG cars from a reputable ebay seller (UK) for $72 and they were fakes. From then I buy only genuine from the local suppliers, because it's not worth to save a few dollars per item.
