Thanks for the pictures, mate. The flares look good but except the "R" on the side there is not much difference there. Are there any changes to the engine? Did you get the specs sheet?

It was a TDI version but unlike here it had the 125kw engine, there was a few interior differences like sportier seats etc but nothing major.

Oh please, an "R" TDI version that has a few cosmetics and only a very, very minor performance upgrade! Talk about marketing hype - this will only do damage to the reputation of ALL VW "R" models. Shame VW, shame! How to turn yourself into a Jap clone in one easy step!

    Not impressed at all

I'd call a 20% power increase over the ONLY other available Tiguan in NZ (103 diesel) a performance upgrade. Remember we ONLY get diesel Tig here, no petrol model at all AND usually it's the 103.

In other markets the "R" means different things BUT overall MOST of it is cosmetic. Personally I'd rather have the extra power, 16" wheels, track and field body, off-road pack and some extra ride height but hey I'm sure there'll be plenty of takers for a uprated diesel with a body kit, flash sports seats and some other cosmetics. (proof of the "takers" can be found on myTiguan.com, there's lots of takers in Europe and a LOT of them are diesels !!)

    Cheers

I take your point NZ, but I still think it's watering down the "R"

Agree ... R should be for something really hot ... not mild ... R-Line should be renamed S-Line (like Audi) for a sporty look without the performance.

Hmm, R20T engine and driveline, Recaros, 19"s, adjustable height suspension, I'd pay 60k for that
