    Mechanic recommendations Brisbane region?

I need some recommendations on a mechanic I can trust to do major engine work on my Tig but not gouge me an unreasonable amount (happy to pay fair price for good work, just don't wish to be ripped). I live in Brisbane (inner Western suburbs)...any help greatly appreciated. Thanx!

OK, thanx! This can't really wait, so we'll be giving Prestige and Performance a call this morning.

A big +1 for Jimmy. He's fantastic and provided great service for me and many others on this forum.

Jude Starr, do you mind sharing what the issue is, when you say 'major engine work' ?

    Cheers.

Well, not really sure at the moment to be honest. All I know is it's big! I thought head gasket...mechanic thinks it's unlikely but couuld be related to either the turbo or the water pump. Mechanic will be able to look at it in the next few days and hopefully will be able to give us a more detailed diagnosis.

It's the diesel engine. First off it wouldn't start. RACQ came and replaced the battery, which then allowed it to start but now blowing a large amount of steam from the exhaust (previously not doing that, though had been getting occasional air locks in the cooling system in the weeks prior to this occurring - not sure if that is related to this issue or not). So, RACQ guy had a look in the oil...it appears there may be water in it (it was dark so hard to be definitive about it). Engine is running perfectly smoothly, no loss of compression etc, not overheating.

Fortunately the mechanic has VW experience, so I am happy he will get to the bottom of it...just got to get to it because he has so much work on (at least he could take it now - all the others we called couldn;t even take it until February!

I'm waiting a fortnight to have an error code read! I guess a lot of places must have staff on holidays & a bit of a back-log...
