RNS510 SD Card Issues

Hi

I'm having issues with my RNS510 not detecting SD cards. When I plug one in it just states there is an error with the SD card.

I have tried this with a 4, 16 and 32GB card, all formatted for FAT32.

Any tips on getting this bugger working?

Could be a crap card Lots of them out there Whats on it, music??? Nothing?????

What firmware version do you have? Early versions did not support sdhc.
If you have anything remotely recent (ie 2600 or later) then the card reader may need to be checked. Have to pull the rns apart and check the ribbon cable. You can buy the sdcard reader as a part online pretty cheap if it cones down to that. Best bet would be to meet up with a fellow forum user to test their card/rns.

Also, if I recall correctly, early RNS units only support up to 2GB cards (at least my B unit did, until I upgraded the firmware,)

I confirmed my firmware is recent so looks like I need a card reader

Carsystems.pl sell them.

But before you do that, check with transporter, have him use one of his known working cards just in case there is something amiss just from a logical perspective with yours.
Next step would be to pull the RNS apart and reseat the cable to the main board from the card reader.
THEN if its still not working buy a new one.
