Hey,

I bought a new headunit online the other day, took out the old one with no problems etc. I'm just connecting speakers up to the headunit, no sub or amp involved. Anyway the vehicle specific wiring harness arrived with it, but after looking I found out that it doesn't actually fit into the factory VW in vehicle harness. After digging up a little bit more, I found that the setup was black/brown smaller harnesses > bigger black harness (same as vehicle specific one that came with the car) > another white/clear harness > stock head unit. There are blue, blue/black and yellow wires that bypasses the black/brown/bigger black harnesses and goes straight into this clear one. My understanding was that it'd be relatively plug and play but I can't seem to figure out what the hell is going on. Firstly, are all of the factory ones like this? secondly, only about half of the terminals of the brown/black harnesses are actually filled with wire.

Basically, my main question is, are most mk3's wired up with 4 different harnesses before the head unit or is mine just crazy?

Now this probably sounds too complicated and difficult to interpret without photos, but I'm completely at a loss with this! I don't want to pay 90 bucks for autobarn to do it
