    VR6 Compression Testing

Good to be back after a little getaway from the Golf
Im only 2 days from getting my license back so I decided to do a Major service on My golf vr6 .
    Today I have pulled out my spark plugs and they were rusted on top but superclean where it fires up .}
Also I have done a Cold engine Compression test on each Cylinder @ 3 seconds each and my Reading were Off The Gauge
    Gauge Meter 0-200 LB / 0-14 Kg
Readings were all the same :
360 degrees all around the gauge untill stopper Needle which = roughly 300 LB
I dont think a MK4 Head gasket would Cause this .
engine is very responsive not that im complaining but it just annoyed when I couldnt get a reading .

    Vr6's 'new' limit is 180-190psi.

only a MK4 vr6 headgasket and a rebuilt head and shaved down but that would not cause compression to go higher because the chamber is in the block
i tried the compression tester on another engine and it was fine .
my vr6 is almost 300 psi
the engine is dead cold which would mean that the rings would not have expanded .
im just getting Hi compression the is the gauge reading

    and Dyno Sheet

    3 seconds
Umm try it again but give it Only 2 or 3 turns.

The important bit is that they all give the same reading !

Get down to supercheap buy a other one, use it, then see what happens. Then take it back and say it doesn't fit,
