Thread: VR Intakes

  1. #11

I have the neuspeed one in my car and no sucking up issues and we have had a heap of ran since I first installed it.

On a side note the sound it makes is tonka tuff! One of fav mods - but I honestly dont think it adds to performance much to be honest. If it does it's marginal ((I did have an K&N pannel in before too).

I've got a K&N pod filter + heat shield on loan atm from Runamuk as hes borrowed my stock air box to get over the pits with. There's a definite improvement in throttle response and the sound is KILLER.

Normally I just have my stock airbox + BMC panel filter. It works well and breathes better then stock but nowhere near the noise level of the K&N.

I forgot why I'm writing all this. Had better hit submit reply I spose

I run a K&N pod also, the noise is pretty horn. Anyone else get a whistle in theirs at low revs under load? Sorta sounds a bit like a turbz spooling up ............ but not

I must say my BMC CDA has a sweet induction noise. Sounds even better from outside the car

I dont think you can go wrong with that setup from performace-cafe Steve. You might as well get the air from down below if you have the intakes there

Interesting, I'm actually considering making my own aswell, I have access to a bender so its not that hard just time consuming on the angle of the bends.

At the moment I have the pod-heatshield setup but looking for something different and more clean so to speak!

Yeah the pod + shield is a damn ugly setup.

BMC CDA looks horn. I'd love one.

If you have a CDA, i recomend going to a local holden wrecker, and getting the maf pipe from an LS1 and use it to guide air into the CDA. I tok out my carbon canister, and just poked the long sectio down the hle, and the 90deg elbow lines up beautiffuly with the cda. Instant COI. I trimmed the long section so that it has a slash cut in it, so that it doesn't act like a hoover, and defelcts water away.

Lots of info in this thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...?t=2669&page=4

Has my dual intake setup with standard airbox on P4, worked very well and looked stock when you opened the hood.

Had to move the canister & remove one of the horns.

(Yes one of the pics seems to be my new bike frame, not sure why?)

Yeah it did. Felt better at the top end and gave a nice intake growl.

Also I just found my bentley manual for the golf, if vince wants it he can have it.
