    Assuming you will be at half that number, arp hardware and a hg spacer will suffice. During this point a freshen up of all the seals never hurts as going to e85 would be the logical choice.

    Gearboxes, need a lsd and stock ratio. Would be ideal to get a quaife dogbox but they are 6k+ re freshen everything in the gearbox and cryo treat the gears if uber paranoid.

    Driveshafts will be your problem. Go with Driveshaft shop ones, will cost you $1300 landed for new or can browse like buggery vortex drag classifieds.

    3" zorst at minimum. Exhaust manifold, wastegate depending if ext. Gate, bov, intercooler, piping, spark plugs, injectors, fpr, ecu. Doing it right will cost you at least 10k in reality.

    Power and reliability will come down to who tunes it. Find someone actually decent. Insight, jem or even haltech if they pull their heads in.

    Went to the wreckers today.
    Sunshine all the time while I was there, raining before and after.

    Unfortunately no VR6 but managed to strike gold with a lower glovebox and passenger floor mat.
    Also some small plastic parts that were either missing or broken in mine.
    The silver mk3 was torn apart by whoever was there before me. Which helped since that made it easy to get cluster bulbs and the green inserts to use as a template.
    The black mk3 was actually a mk4 so there's only 2 mk3s.

    The silver mk3 bonnet has a dint to the metal and the front end looks like it just needs a clean.

    You could also talk to mk1turbo79 on here. He turbo charged his vr6 a while ago and still has it. Probably has some advice / real work experience and answers to your questions.

    Turns out the wreckers don't actually list if they are mk3 or mk4 or whatever for that matter. They just list them as "golf" with a year.
    1994 was a good bet that it was a mk3 but the pther two were both 1998 but one was mk3 the other mk4.
    Good thing there were mk3's otherwise the trip would have been for nothing.
    The year is a good thing to go by then.
