What the heck is a gaiter? Isn't that the yankie name for what we call crocodiles?
Hey Guys,
Was wondering if anyone had done this to a MK3 as there doesn't seem to be anywhere to attach the base of the gaiter too? Seen them on ebay but wasn't sure how easy the fit up was?
Cheers

It's that leather dealie that goes round the base of the handbrake. Similar to the one on your gearshift.
If nothing else it's stops "stuff" going under the handbrake... like when you put screws into that little recess under the handbrake it then knock them into the gap...

Haha, gaiter = boot.
I bought the eBay one by mrgaiter. The shift boot was great, looks awesome and fits well, but the handbrake gaiter doesn't fit our middle consoles. I made a thread earlier in the year about this, I'll try and find it. AFAIK, the US/UK middle consoles are different, as they have a storage box at the rear and so is slightly raised (about 2 inches from pics).
Cool, thanks for the info ray, as usual a reservoir of dub knowledge![]()

No worries mate, I was curious myself too at the timeExcept I made the purchase

My mum made me oneNo seriously!
Fitted perfectly, and looked absolutely fantastic. Nothing like a full custom job to make it work properly.
It doesn't need to be attached to anything at the bottom end, as long as you use a stiff enough leather, and if the shape is right.
Sorry I don't have any pics, and won't have until my sister comes home next (with the Mk3) but I just have to say, If you know someone who can sew, don't even bother looking at buying one...

Haha that's awesome! I want to get my grandma to do the same too, except using the same fabric as what I'll be using for the headliner!
Definitely. There's actually an even MORE useful console. I've seen one that has a slightly wider storage compartment with a lid. Apparently it can be locked. I've had pictures before but don't know where to find them now. A buyer on eBay sells them though, THAT I know.
Here's one on eBay right now:
