Get the colour at the dissy end and find the same wire at the ECU so you can have a shorter run into the cabin.

Ive tryed this, the wire is green/white but the lights didnt react when i reved the car. Does that send out a hall effect signal and does the car have to be moving or can i just rev it in nutral? The instructions say the car has to be 'under load' whatever that means.

IIRC the signal from the hall sender just goes high and low in time with engine rotation. The ECU looks at either the rising or falling edge of the square wave.

Maybe you can trigger it off the feed to the coil? Pin 25 on the ECU according to that a2resource.com?
