Mk2 Model Number 3dr

Could someone please tell me what the model number is for a 3dr golf. I'm busy looking in to sourcing one but need the model number to trawl through all of the auctions.

What do you mean by model number? Because all of these would be imports chances are the auction house know nothing about them and would more likely list them at best as an aussie spec 5dr MkII or something completely bogus like a Mk1.

all cars have a model number Merc SLK is a 147, bmw 3 series go from e30 to e46 depending on what shape it is. Virtually all manafacturers use these model numbers for describing their cars inhouse or for people who know to be able to differentiate between them. I'm look for that for a golf. The one that's for sale on here is expensive for a 1985 golf, regardless of the condition, if it was a 91/92 with the door mirros where the quarter glass is I'd happily pay it but I hate that quarter glass. I looking at the possibility of importing on myself but to get it from the Uk any other way than a personal import is sooooo expensive so I'm investigating other options.

golfs do not have a model number, its just mk1, mk2, mk3 etc

VW do use model designations but they arent used as far as their sales goes. More an internal thing to keep track of part numbers and such.

That's what I was after. Thanks for that. DOn't think I'll have much luck but it's worth a try. Should have bought one in London when I was living ther, o well you live and learn.
