    Mk 2 Factory Radio

Hi all, being a VW nub can anybody shed some light on what radio came from the factory in the mk2 gti? What brand? A pic or link would be wonderful, sorry to be a pain im just one of those guys that likes the stock look so was thinking of taking the aftermarket cd out of my ride that was in it when purchased to fit an old crappy factory item.Iva had a look thru ebay etc and some in the Uk have listed Panasonic decks while others have Phillips.
Or are these now like rocking horse poop????

I thought it was a Blaupunkt unit.

I assume it would vary by year and market; someone correct me if I am wrong, the Australian Spec cars probably had a radio fitted by the importer at the time (remember it wasnt VW in those days who imported the cars). I have heard pioneer was used in some local cars

The Blaupunkt looks right, but Dave might have a point, cos mine's pretty standard all over and has a Pioneer. Looks period enough.

I got a alpine cassette player with the car (CD Player was already fitted) that I was told was the original stereo. Looks different to the above though, in a 92 reg oz gti. It has a face that is movable in that it tilts left or right. I was told that the button of the 6 panels buttons that has a a screw type attachment was used to move the face of the stereo left or right. The button is also missing from photo above...

Anyone else have this or am I special?

Also does anyone elses lights on the A/C controls work? Mine came on unexpectedly the other day, in that they never have in the past, so was quite surprised there was a light there.

I have one of those pioneer units, I bought it of a forum member from his old mk2 so I assume that's legitimate. The alpine unit could possibly be real however in 92 an alpine head unit was top end and very expensive so hard to say

My aircon lights have a glow about them....pretty sure a couple of small bulbs are behind it

    OEM looking dashboards FTMFW.

I ditched a working FM cassette player for a non-working, OEM Phillips AM radio in my main car.
