I think the jumpstyle is silly...but the shuffling looks pretty cool, especially when they can make it look like they're gliding around on the floor!

LOL!, you know, its full name is 'the melbourne shuffle'?? it started in melbourne, not just 'some of it takes place' there, it originated, and has spread world wide, clearly, a lot of people like it.

oh and have to throw up some moon boy (i think he's 11)

for the folks who have asked what my problem with all this is... i'll simply say this: it's the most facepalm-worthy form of signalling your presence to and attracting members of the opposite gender in your basic/hard wired instincts to pro-create [dancing], that i've ever seen.

that, and the fact that given that each shuffler needs floorspace thats equivalent to the surface area of the average family swimming pool in order to "dance", i just dont think we have enough room [at least in melbourne] to sustain this kind of........ activity.

although, i have seen ''shuffling'' where dudes spin around on the spot a whole bunch of times. maybe if they kept it to just spinning in circles, that could work

shuffling is good to watch, the other one not so much, plus is a little dangerous on a dancefloor!
actually when i get very drunk, my feet go a little crazy on me and end up doing some sort of version of the shuffle... basically they just glide around the floor unaturally, which makes my legs go all funky and wobbily. i've always wanted to see what it I look like when i do it, haha.
but as soon as people start watching me do it, i stop!
i think it's my only talent.

lolwut? sustain? it's been going on for the better part of 20 years. are you just messing with us?

Either way, I still don't understand the link between a persons style of dancing and their entry into this country. There's heaps of dance styles far worse in my opinion, like C-walking for instance ... it looks like they're tripping over their shoes and only just managing to stay upright.

... not a fan, but certainly not going to judge them on their choice of dance moves.

Re: Some people shouldnt be allowed into Australia.....

Ok I'll put this out there. This is mainly to the OP

I don't like the shuffling culture that was just phased out over the last couple of years. This is because most shufflers at the time were trend suffers. Ask the ****heads that said they shuffled two years ago now and chances are they don't do it. Also the fact that most people were on E when they were doing it, they thought they were good but they probably weren't being true to the style.

BUT that aside, any dance is a form of expression - a way to show how you feel and seperate you from the others. It's an art, no matter what style it is or whether or not you like it. Just because something is done in public it doesn't always mean they are trying to attract the other gender either!! Would you want to talk to a girl after you've done a run around the lake, sweat dripping from your balls!? Hah! I think not! I've seen people try to pick up telling girls how much they earn! ****! At least dancers have skill instead of being able to suck their bosses Wang under the desk! You can't bull**** expression but you can sure as hell be paid well for faking it in in other places!

It's also another way to live. Too many people in this world are caught up in oh Im grown up I work etc. Answer this. What the fuque do you do? Really? Besides work and look after ur car house and kids (not that there's anything wrong with kids - most important thing in the world to me!) what the **** do you do? WHAT ARE YOU GOOD AT? What is your hobby? Your passion? Think about what you gave up to do what you're doing now? Do you at *whatever age* play rugby anymore? Do you swim? Do you meet people playing golf around the country? Do you cycle and meet other cyclists in other countries? Think about it...

Just like the common interest of owning a vw, we've met each other on the forum, at gtgs etc.

I'll tell you one thing. Yeah some of my friends are lawyers and work 16 hour days at 25 years old. They own a house now, they are fat lazy ex athletes that had time to be happy and not think about working Monday. They enjoyed life. Now they are locked in to slaving away, looking at what they used to do because they think they moved on...

Through my passion I travel around the world meeting hundreds of dancers. I can literally pick up and leave to another country, find a spot and dance and I will meet a bunch of people that share the same interest as me. While you ****ers slave away driving ballin cars and houses and work a job that you must keep so u can live with the car and house. Cool, if that's what you want.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, don't hate the lifestyle of someone else because you can't do it. I'm not a shuffler but I know what people think of me when I wear a foam cap and spin on my hands back and head. I dont get drink and go out to clubs though, i just live the lifestyle and live through my dance. Learn to accept that people are different. This country can be so good in so many ways but it can be so narrow minded too.

By the way I'm Asian, I dance in public and I know what the OP means by the thread title.

Australia calls itself multicultural yet it can't accept different cultures.

Culture isn't just what nationality or skin colour you are, it can be more than that.

lol okay okay, i think i trod on a few toes with this one, sorry if i offended any riverdance fans out there!

bboy, quite a post! i'll answer a couple of your questions- keep in mind that im not being defensive, and i dont want to offend, merely answer your Q's [a post as long as yours deserves a decent response, i figured].

    1. kumusta naka yo. im part philipino too, im not racist, it was a joke, lol. dont get too cut up- no aussie born half casts/asians have been subjected to worse racism than i have, trust me. racism dont get any worse than in an all boys full time boarding school consisting of about 50-60% country kids. just chill, im not a nazi, although i thank hitler for VW every day

    2. my hobbies? i'll admit im simple, very simple. i love my humble car, i like cooking, and i love snowboarding. because of snowboarding, i've lived in america, canada, japan. i still do it. dont play rugby anymore- if i want to get decked, i'll simply spend a day in the snowboard park [bigger stacks to be had there].

    3. i agree with you. many people DO do things for the car and the house etc etc, just to be able to maintain the bottom line. i hate that lifestyle, i hate just paying bills and saving up play money. i hated my ishtty office job in which i was going nowhere because apparently suggesting new protocol/ devising new administrative systems and suggesting them to upper management/ illustrating why upper management ufcked up, in detail, and how to avoid in future using all of a can of common sense, well.... that gets you precisely the same place that you were in the company, 3 years ago. which is why i quit my job a fortnight ago. so it's not what i want, by a long shot.

    4. i dont HATE shuffling, i simply smirk at it, no big deal, people smirk at other people/things/passtimes on here all the time, its a part of life blah blah blah...

so yeah, man, chill...... i CAN shuffle, btw, i just need to smoke a couple of DEVASTATINGLY MASSIVE doobies, then drown em with a couple of bottles of Stone's Green Ginger Wine [go alby!] and i'd be shuffling like a mad ****

Re: Some people shouldnt be allowed into Australia.....

Sick! I wasn't really asking you the questions, but more to put it out there. Just to make people life can be **** but can be a lot less **** if you do things you have a passion for...

Anyway, just to clear up, I don't shuffle. I hate it. I hate the style the pants the music the hair and when I see it being done I want to slam pull out my eyeballs with blunt forks... But still can appreciate what they are trying to do :p

Ps I wrote all that on my iPhone too. Insane!
