You do a burnout & there's a possibility you can go to jail in an extreme case if your caught several times.

Imagine sitting in jail with murders, rapists etc & here you are sitting amongst all these harden criminals & all you did was a burnout.

    Ask yourself this

How many people have actually died from the result of someone doing a burnout or actually doing a burnout "V" how many people have died from the result of drink driving or actually drink driving?

I'd like to see the statistics of this.

Its a sad world when doing a burnout is looked at, as much worse than drink driving!!!!!!!!!!!

Now also add how many stupid arse drivers are there out there & I'll add...

How about the absolute idiot Tony Abbott & Co deciding to last minute do a U-turn on the Princes Hwy giving a bus & a semi truck no where to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Then having the nerve to say how dangerous the road is!!!!!!!!

The truck should have got them!

Its idiots like that, that without licenses would make roads a safer place to be!!!!!

But doing a burnout is much much worse than this??????? Yeah right!

You never just decide to stop on a 100km/h 2 way Hwy & pull a U-turn without looking at your surrounding's first!!

Just found this & is definitely worth a watch

It seems that its just too hard for cops to catch real crooks!

& I've had first hand experience with this when my house got robbed!!!!!!!

Cause its just to easy to pick on young kids with modified cars & get there quoter, even if they're not actually doing anything wrong!

sorry bro, but I own a 37kw mk 1 diesel. that thing was slow, but I could still speed in it, and 'dumbasses' can speed, 'dumbasses' can crash. simple as that.

no matter, how small, underpowered etc etc etc cars you restrict people too, they'll still be able to go fast enough to kill themselves if they dont have the skills/knowledge/experience behind the wheel.

Better driver education! proper stuff like they have in europe!

Oh and once again Tim, on the money here mate. couldn't agree more.

I think crushing the car is a pretty neanderthal "eye for an eye" response.

The car should be sold or dismantled and the proceeds donated to a charity

Better driver education is the way to go but the government want's quick fix solutions as they are generally only in term for 3-6 years.

At least the charade/alto can have airbags and will require a lot longer time to get up to speeds where they can actually seriously injure themelves which would make it a safe quick-fix solution.

I do agree that we need a much more strict driver training regime and to enforce it on every driver in the country.
Get re-tested again every time your license needs renewing.

victorian drivers are a joke- but how do you address the widespread problem of no indication/ occupying part of the next lane/ creeping around a right hand turn on a green arrow at a leisurely 5km/h during peak hr, allowing for only 2-3 cars to leave the intersection?

i reckon mandatory licence tests every couple of years. if you indicate after going around a corner to show the guy who just slammed his brakes to prevent from running into you, what you just did, then boom- loss of license for 6 months.

sounds harsh, but it would make people knock their sht into gear if they knew that complacent driving resulted in losing their ability to pick up the kids etc.

the government continues to put less cops on the road and instead relies on speed-cameras - great for revenue raising, and does diddly-squat about all the other crap-driving issues we see day-to-day

If you are unaware enough to hoon in the city / suburbs where all the camera's / cops generally are, you deserve what you get. Hoon smart.

Is it worth sitting in jail with murders and rapists, or maybe you won't be able to sit that often, just to do some stupid burnouts or hoon around on a public road.

And no matter how big the farm you learn to drive on is, its a bit hard to claim to be an experienced driver on the day you get your licence.

Often when I think of my early driving days I really feel that I am alive more by good luck than good management. I had no doubt that I was the best, most skilled driver in Australia when I was 17. Can't believe how much my driving skills have deteriorated since then.

Now I can't even keep up with P Platers on the motorways when I am sitting on a true 110km per hour.

$1500 hurts. If it doesn't hurt, no lessons learned.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

    Gotta agree with Golfworx.. However..

These "hoon laws" unfortunately target people unfairly aswell as the people that they are truly aimed at. I really don't see the harm in chucking a skid to a degree.

Like has been said before, it's about risk management. If you want to go silly, do it where you can't get injured or at a very minimum, can't injure someone else.

It really comes down to education. And i don't mean more driver log books and computer tests. Physical, one on one tuition with someone who can actually drive. Not some useless bastard that got their license 30 years ago by taking the cop up to the corner shop and back. Nothing will change while ever you have people who would be lucky to be able to drive their thumb up their own arse (let alone a car!) teaching new drivers.
