ASSUMING you are talking about a late model Scirocco not a MK1...

You need to buy or make a tool for spreading the clamp on the bearing housing.

You can undo the axel bolt and to allow the housing to drop a bit lower, but you have to do it up REALLY tight (consequently its quite hard to undo). I have found, if you are a bit of a butcher, you can remove the strut without undoing the axel bolt.

hmmm... any specific name on said tool? lol

    yes, 2012 R.

Ive had an extensive look on a number of forums i guess not many people have done it themselves.

No, definitely not a butcher - really want it done right (hence, not wanting some clutz to do it for me unless anyone can recommend...)

    Cheers!

working on the suspension is easy!

Lots of aftermarket parts suppliers sell the strut spreader tool.

If you are looking specifically for the Scirocco you might not have a lot of luck - but the front suspension on most FWD VAG cars nowdays is all put together the same. Look for information about Golfs.

If you dont want to scratch the paint on your brake backing plates, you will have to undo a lot more stuff to remove the struts than otherwise...
