Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link
Ryan isn't a big dubber, his main reason for joining the forum was to find an answer to his blocked DPF. Hence he hasn't been on to say anything.
I asked Ryan to drive it for a while before making any comments.
I am not the kind of guy to blow my own trumpet, which is why I haven't said anything.
Gavin
He PM'd me a report of his initial experience, and it's all good people. I'm sure he'll be back on to have an opinion when he's ready. I do appreciate the fact people are hanging to hear all about it ( including me!! ), but it's his call.

Hi Guys... I understand they are plenty of people interested..very busy work load last week also wanted to drive for a little before posting opinions as Gav stated.
Don't have time this morn but detailed report will follow in the next day or so.
I'll just say that it's good, a very fast good.
Ryan
Okay so here is the low down after a nearly two weeks...
No issues with fault lights from sensors or the like coming through, and no DPF regen light etc. I was a little concerned prior to getting the DPF delete done that I may have some issues with O2 sensors etc as the car was throwing up fault codes relating to weak signals etc but thankfully these were being put out due to the DPF issue.
The tune-(Mild tune, as my wife drives this car, although worth noting she drives quite aggressively and quick)
Has made the car quite a bit easier to drive at quicker speeds, a noticable difference in the power delivery, still has the quick burst that gives anyone who first gets in that chessy grin when there heads gets thrown back into the head rest, but to anybody who has driven before and after, it may not feel as "quick" as It isnt as much of a jerk. (remember this is the "Mild" tune)
Dont be put off by above statement though as the power delivery is smoother, it is quite a bit quicker. It just doesnt feel like it. You look down a few seconds after you take off and expect as before the tune be at about 60 clicks but are closer to 90-100. Deceptively quick, smoother power curve, but still a real kick when you take off quick (note-You still get a lot of wheel spin in 1st, 2nd...I dont want to make it sound like It's lost that initial power surge as it hasnt just more managable).
This was highlighted to me more so when I was following my wife in the mother in laws rx-8. On the phone to the better half asking her to take off normally so I could see the smoke levels- With my wife saying that she was accelertaing "slowly" I was still having to give hte rx-8 a fair boot to keep up with her. So certainly when you're driving it, even "easy" It's easy to sneek over the limit very quickly without noticing.
So overview- Tune is great, stoked on the power delivery, thing just keeps pulling...still cant get it off the line and through to 3rd without constant chirpingbut that also has a lot to do with my lack of Turbo driving history. I hate to think how much spin I would get driving the "wild" tune.
Exhaust smoke/soot-
So, Initially was a little concerned about the amount of smoke the car was blowing when you pushed off at the lights or turbo kicked in any gear, but after what would seem a coupld of days I think the car cleared up a fair bit of crap that was probably built up from the DPF clogging as it now has much much less smoke, and more of a "soot" puff. This only happens when you really give it a push to the floor and it is now more of a little sooty black puff when turbo kicks at each gear change as oppossed to "smokey" haze following when you punch it.
I am only using Vortex prem diesel now and have added Moreys so it is pretty much no smokey haze just sooty puff as described above.
So from a car following perspective, you just shrug your shoulders and see it as a puff of black that you expect when you see a diesel punch it.
If you are just driving normally/semi quick, you dont really get anything that is noticable.
FUEL ECON-
The figures Its averaging at the moment, arent really a fair indication the way the car has been driven the last two weeks
Once the thrill wears off I'm sure the wife will start taking off normally and driving perhaps less like she's racing....maybe...
The wife drives in 60k-80ks roads, 45mins pretty stop start to work and back each day punching it and changing lanes far more than I think neccessary ;0 and is averaging 7.5L per 100k's. Will update this with a far more realistic average in the coming months...
CUSTOM CODE-
So finally, the wrap on Gav at Custom Code is all positve. Gav came all the way over from Adelaide to do the tune in Melbourne, great service. Really nice bloke who seems to have probably forgotten more about VAG cars than I have learnt through this process. So massive props. Great service, worked a treat.
Gav not only did the tune for me but gave me countless amount of advice and time on the phone for the weeks prior trying to find different options and best ways to deal with the problem I had. Not just what would be easiest for him and make him the most money. Nice change to deal with someone like that.
So anyway, stoked on the out come. Love the car, love the end result of the tune and de-DPF.
If anybody has any specific questions I'm happy to answer with what my limited knowledge can provide.
I'd be handing over $4000 to VW for a new filter and a lower performance car if it wasnt for this forum...
Thanks again Gav. (and also Greg for all the help too)
Cheers
Ryan

Thanks Ryan.
Sounds good, love to see some local dyno figures...
This was done on a Mk 5 GT TDI?
