    Steering Problem B7

Some of you have probably read my saga with my one week old Passat Wagon FSI 3.6 4 Motion MY12.5 wagon... the problems with my local dealer, VW Customer Care and my car being off the road for four weeks and then end result being a blown fuse....found by a dealer in Port macquarie after the car was flat bedded there.

Well, before this happened, I had two instances of the Steering Light coming on red and having no power steering..after restarting the car, it went away. I have had three weeks of enjoyable driving and just started to forget my problems with VAG and then on Friday night I had two instances of the power steering issue. After turning the ignition off and back on, the issue went away. Until today (Sunday) when I started it and the power steering issue came back.... and now it won't go away.

So tomorrow I have to take it back to the dealer who could not fix it last time (the nearest dealer aside from them is 300km away)... to see how long this one takes.

To add to this the lane assist has not worked since new as the option to turn it on is not there, (apparently a coding issue) so this needs to be activated.

Have I just got a lemon or is a great car failing due to incompetence? I have no faith in VAG or the local dealer. Beautiful car, just no after sales support. I wish they would give a toss.

maybe I should go and get trained in repairing the car and do it myself.

I feel for you mate. I have none of the problems you have but just some superficial stuff. Hope the VW dealer pulls their finger out this time.

    Ditto

My car was off to a hairy start (cough) ... but smooth sailing ever since... My dealer was pretty attentive and the minor issues were sorted pretty quick, it would be tough without that support.

I wish I could say it's a once off, but after the trouble I have experienced, with the car and 4 different dealers, all I can say is get used the the Teutonic thinking where they are always right.

I am currently in a state of bliss about it - it's at a panel beater getting hail damage fixed. 2 weeks down, 2 to go, of not having to worry about it...

Mate, just can't catch a break can you......

Seems interesting to me that all the trouble you went through initially ended up being only a fuse & was sorted by another dealer. Now the steering error that your dealer failed to correct the first time is playing up again. Shepp, I am not there so it's difficult but I would certainly have more confidence in the dealer in Port based on the current track record of each dealer. Get it back to Port, they showed to atleast have a greater level of competency or attention than the other mob.

Well, the local dealer has sorted my car after four days off the road.

It took them an afternoon once they Lund time to look at it. It had the same error messages in the VAGCOM as it originally did. Apparently all to do with lane assist and tow bars and coding correctly. Also MY 12.5 has apparently some changes in coding???

Thy have recovered themselves a bit.... Let's hope this is the last of it... Will remain nervous for a while hoping it doesn't happen again at some inconvenient future time...
