Rattles in Dash/Centre Console

ours squeaks like a school boy choir
it's everywhere
apart from the dash, bottom of A pillar, top of B pillar, rear drivers side window, suspension bushes
we gave up a while ago because there's just so many. A bit like the weeds at my house

ours is an April 06 build

Ok guys good news is that the squeeks are gone

I removed the surround from the stereo quiet easily just pops off.
I then sprayed WD40 in all the holes that the clips go into and where the surround touches other plastic parts on all edges. I also used a chapstick to coat the clips themselves and some other parts of the surround edges.
Clean up any mess, wipe off any residual spray or chapstick and it all the squeeks are gone.

now that I drive the passat daily for 1.5 hours, I put a bit more effort in the past week to eliminate squeaks
I started by removing all the dash trims and pieces and putting electrical tape behind the edges, so there's less plastic rubbing on plastic
It seems to have helped a lot
When using felt just be careful don't use ones that are too thick - I tried that months ago and it just put everything out of alignment.

The B pillar one I'm still fighting, and there's one at the top of the windscreen at the A pillar. It's a battle which I would eventually lose because I just ordered a set of H&R springs and shocks for it... should use my noise cancelling earphones

Gone for a while anyway until the product breaks down. I wouldn't be using petroleum based products on plastics in a car unless they were designed to be in contact with them.

A product that can be used safely and that will stay in place for a long time without breaking down is Krytox - DuPont Krytox lubricant - door seals, hinges, latches, squeaks and rattles

Fabric Adhesive tape used for wiring looms is perfect for that application, you can put it in places that you can't use regular tapes, it stays in place and can be built up by applying multiple layers. And it doesn't leave the sticky residue that electrical tape does after a short time.

Had this problem with our 06 Passat. Took it to service and they fixed it up for me, took 1 day for them to find all the squeaks and they did not charge me
