LOL, and of course they wouldn't see through that when the matter in question is a factory fitted option would they... they did after all come down in the last rain shower.
Which is exactly why you just different dates on the invoices. (that's not actually how my deal was arranged - but it's one way of doing it)

Doesn't matter when they're fitted. They're options and were paid for separately to the car. It's LCT (Luxury Car Tax) not LCAOT (Luxury Car And Options Tax). If I go an buy a factory option tomorrow (which I can if I want to) it's not added to the value of the car, it's separate. Like when I asked about getting Bluetooth the dealer even said they'd order it separately so as not to attract any more LCT since it's such an expensive option.
If people are happy to blindly accept LCT on everything when they don't have to then more fool them. If you simply want to laugh at other people's experiences, well that's your choice - but it's a pretty stupid choice if you ask me.
Yes Rocket..... of course Rocket.
LCT legislation says the value of the car is the value at the time the car is supplied including all options and accessories, so unless your factory fitted roof and sat nav were fitted after you actually took delivery of the car then they are included in the value for LCT.
If you buy a factory option tomorrow it will not constitute part of the value for LCT. It will obviously not be part of the initial purchase as it will be purchased almost two years after your purchase ... and it will not be "factory fitted".
There is no choice when the "options" are fitted as part of the build and their value is included in the value for LCT regardless of the number of invoices or the date of those invoices.
If the intention of the numerous differently dated invoices is to deceive and to evade tax then the action is illegal.
Do have to agree with Swallowtail though. Taxman is pretty sophisticated nowadays and your suggested subterfuge would stick out like the proverbial dog's balls.
And if he just happened to drive a fully loaded R36 wagon on which he paid a heap of LCT he may be particularly diligent.
The first thing a tax investigator would do in an audit of a dealer's LCT affairs would be to examine build sheets, orders, sales invoices and dates. There is also a value of the car declared to the RTA for stamp duty/registration purposes and if that is understated could give rise to penalties also. But would be another clue for the tax man.
You might get away with the dealer fitted bluetooth because they could fudge the dates and show that it was fitted after you took delivery of the car (This would involve falsifying both the sales invoice and the dealers workshop records as to when the work was done.
But no worries, it's the dealer who owes the tax. If he chooses to break the law to sell you the vehicle for a cheaper price, that's his choice. He runs the risk of the consequences.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.
Don't waste your time Highlander, we all know Rocket is always right....![]()
I haven't said anyone is right or wrong here and quite frankly I'm getting sick of the implication people think I'm always right. I'm NOT!
When I bought my car, the dealer went through everything with me and kept the LCT amount as low as possible. Hence I am discussing my experience - which is what this sort of forum is all about. Now there's a moderator of all people ridiculing that? What a wonderful place this forum has become, a place where if people disagree with you or think you're wrong, they can ridicule you, put words into your mouth and tell you how you're thinking. Point me to ONE place ANYWHERE where I have EVER said or implied that I'm always right........ You can't! Now quit being antagonistic!
You think I think I am always right but that's where your wrong. There was once that I thought I was wrong but I was wrong.

I have to say I do think it's funny that Rocket thinks we're implying that we think he's always right.
Guys, can we please keep to the topic with regards to Dynaudio upgrade and not some debate regarding LCT.
Thank you.
