Should be no need to visit a dealer.
Hi did you manage to clear the errors.
Could it be you have the old climatronic unit and might need to upgrade to a newer one??
The Fakra connector seems ok to me, should just slot in, did you align the grooves/ridges.
Be wary of the 2 to 1 Fakra connectors on ebay, they have a single wire only, the other slot is just a blank.
Today I've had a bit more luck with the VCDS and coding. Well, sort off. Most of the coding I've entered was "accepted" however when I went to check it back these fields were empty. For example, VW sound system coding, accepted, cycled ignition, go back sound system showing "not installed".

Same with for example chassis? VW sedan/limousine, RHD, coded through Long Coding Helper, accepted, cycled ignition. Went back - nothing. Perhaps the new can gateway is simply jinxed.
The Convenience Menu available normally through the steering wheel controls - only the petrol and millage available. No setting Homecoming lights, date setting, ect, etc. Also the reverse light not working, neither the fog light.
The car drives Ok, the headlights, indicators, new radio head unit all work. I've seem to have lost windscreen washer bottle motor but that could purely be a coincidence as I've noticed some water leak from that side of the vehicle few weeks ago. Also the TPMS is cactus. I could be said it's a miracle the vehicle is still moving forward he, he.

TPMS coding - I think the workshop code, importer no.& equipment no. are wrong, just default values.
Is your VCDS a clone?
That's the sort of thing clones do. Look like they work but don't.
As per my above post, the VCDS behaved today so it seemed clearing the codes wasn't "a problem" Per se. No, the original Fakra connectors were simply too fat and the spacing on the RCD510 Fakra socket is too narrow. Have a look below at the RCD310 original spacing and compare the two. I didn't want to break anything on the new head unit even before I installed it in the vehicle.

I simply ended up taking the plastic Fakra shrouds and using electrical tape to "insulate" them. But a fellow from car radio installation joint told me that wasn't really required. He said the Fakra has the shrouds to lock the connectors in so they simply don't come out at any stage during driving. Since I know they're not locked I can always fix it should the problem arise. Well, I could make a plastic "bridle" and use a hot glue to make sure they won't come out but that's an extra work :tapfingers:.

Yeah, that's why today I visited an auto electrician who happens to have a working VCDS. It appears that most coding was already on the gateway - once he saved the coding for type of car - VW sedan, RHD, etc all came back alive. The Convenience Menu, reverse light, fog light, etc.
The only thing he couldn't do is to get rid of the communication fault between the head set and the can bus which comes up as intermittent. He reckons it could be due to the fact I'm upgrading with Delphi h/u which whilst being a "proper VW h/u" is apparently only fitted to VW cars in China. Don't know about this one. :frown:
Upshot from all this is - invest in a good VCDS cable and you'll save in the long run. :)
Definitely getting a genuine VCDS is very important. I was lucky enough to get an old Hex cable on the relatively cheap side.
I have a Noname 330 from a Chinese phaeton. Works well for me although I had opened up the harness to get access to the canbus and added an extra cable covered with shrink wrap.
Is the canbus gateway genuine??
