As everyone is saying you can't just run a bigger turbo on a tune set up for a k03 simple as that. They Are worlds apart. You need injectors and tune. It's black and white it will not work and I'd someone says it will they are having laugh

    ok few options.

    1) Buy all the parts and upgrade to stage 3.
    2) Buy turbo & get a custom code tune...
    3) Buy tune & injectors get a custom code tune.
    4) buy the turbo and see what happens (Yeah right..)

    Thanks all!

Vice versa a k03 set up will run like aids on a 71 map so option a is my bet. Do it right do it once and save some dough in the long run

3 and 4 arent an option as the ECU AND the immobilser will have been modifed by Revo, the same would apply with an APR tune. Unless CC has access to some virgin Immo files to replace the corrupted ones then your stuck with the original modifier.
I can't touch it, so your safe

The car will "work" with a large turbo on it with everything else stock. If this was your only option, you could putter around slowly and carefully; essentially you must stay out of boost. Even with your boost control solenoid bypassed and wastegate actuator hooked up directly to manifold pressure; the GT28 on wastegate pressure alone would easily exceed the fuelling capabilities of the stock injectors. In essence, the car would be a ticking timebomb as you would have to rely on yourself to stay off-boost.

If you decided to install larger injectors at the same time, you would need a custom tune immediately. At the very least, you would have to dial back on the primary fuelling via "Lemmiwinks" or similar, to keep it semi-drivable. Again, the best option is to wait and save up for it all at once.

Even if you did go ahead with it, your clutch wouldnt last long and you are probably going to break your gearbox and driveshafts too

    What about a frakenturbo or a K04-022 from a TT225

not unless you took it back to Revo and made them put the stock file(s) back on it - They can all do it but they get a bit ****ty . If for example it was done with Superchips,CC,bluefin and most of the smaller places then its no issue as they only mess with the mapping areas and you can just overwrite. DNA might be like this too, not sure.

You are best to get it all done at once though, there just too many things you'd have to worry about and it serves no purpose and the car will be slower until it been completed. If you buy a full kit it will have the intercooler and pipework that fits properly with the rest of the gear with no nasty surprises.

Thanks guys, its always good to get advice from the specialists/tuners.

Exactly what i wanted to know. Generally looking to go cheap always fails, i probably should go K04 with my current tune and tweak it with lemmiwinks. Because i would imagine if i bolt the Gt2871r on with injectors ill have to pay for the first tune, then another 1000 odd for the final tune. (right?)

    No worries D,

To support the GT28RS properly you will need a larger MAF housing; this combined with your choice of injectors will impact on what tune to run on your ECU; I'm not entirely sure what you meant just above, but if you bolt on the GT, larger injectors (ie. 550cc), larger MAF housing (ie. 70mm), then a fairly common Stage 3 style tune could be programmed onto the ECU; I don't see why you would have to pay again for the final tune, etc. most tuners will be able to make some tweaks here and there if necessary, whether or not they charge $ for that is a different matter.

There's also always room for you to make some small adjustments using Lemmiwinks which is handy too.
