Hmm, haven't looked at that setup before. I was going to leave the alternator up high.
I think that pulley is the same as the VR6 one.
That setup would be a needed for an ABA 8v head too I'd imagine.
You've got me thinking now.
Pete
The 2E, AGG, ADY 2.0 8vs (Mk3) with no A/C use the same setup, just for reference - it's just that they're very rare down here.
A lot of the yanks call the setup ABF-specific, but it isn't.
All local ABFs had a/c, so to find the setup locally, you need to find a non-A/C Mk3 GL - I have a feeling only the early Mk3s with a 2E had the A/C option meaning your search locally is even harder!!
I have a brand new one on my 1.6 engine, which I'll consider selling for the right price. PM me if you're interested![]()

Will they fit short block 16v's (KR specifically)? Looks like a good setup. That's what i'm after. Get the alt. away from the carbies.

Yeah Valver is right. All 16v ABFs sold here had AC.
Its not a 8v or 16v Bracket, its an AC bracket or not with the ribbed belt setup.
The most common application for that setup down under is a 2L Transporter sold without AC, but with the ribbed alternator pulley. 1996/7 Onwards. Early vans have a v belt and metal brackets.
The alloy bracket part number is 028 903 143 AD.
There is a spring that goes with it to make the alternator tension, but you could use a bar setup for adjustment instead. I just used this same setup for a 20VT into a Mk1.
The waterpump pulley to suit this ribbed belt is 028 121 013 K.
Could you use the AC bracket and move the alternator, pivoting it forward from one of the boltholes and fixing it there to get around this problem?
