    110TSI v 92TSI difference

I'm looking at buying a Golf 110TSI but don't know how to tell the difference between the 110TSI v 92TSI and other variants. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Both the 92TSI and 110TSI look idential and both have a 1.4L turbo engine so honestly some may be advertised for sale incorrectly. I would advise you check either or all of the following to be sure you are buying the correct one:

    - owners manual / log book to see how the car is identified as it should have it printed on the inside of the front page.
    - inside the boot near the spare wheel there should be a sticker which identifies which model (eg 110TSI) as well as any options the car has (eg alloy wheels, parking sensors etc)
    - rego papers as it will state there what model it is.
    - do a VIN number check using a service like RevsCheck or CarVertical

The 90/92/103TSI Golf were MK7 Golfs and there were numerous upgrades to the 110TSI MK7.5 Golf, both cosmetically and technically.

110TSI MK7.5 Golfs were built from June 2017 onwards.

Externally, the easiest way to tell is that the MK7.5 110TSI has LED running lights in the headlights, LED taillights and a new styled front and rear bumper and no visible tailpipes. Internally, the easiest tell is the radio is a large full glass style unit, compared to the small unit with a plastic surround in the older MK7s. There are various models (base, trendline, comfortline, highline, R-line) in the 110TSI but the basics mentioned above are all present in all of them.

Thank you Lucas. I just bought a 110TSI as the logbook and owners manual clearly stated 110TSI. I was unable to see any label or sticker in the boot area and also checked under the spare wheel. The VIN number check didn't actually state which engine. Cosmetically it seems to appear 110TSI, so thank you for your response. Much appreciated.

Thanks Sharkie. Cosmetically it seems to have all the 110TSI. It has LED running lights in the headlight but actual headlight is halogen. The rear bumper has no visible tailpipes and radio has a large full glass style unit, so I'm hoping it's MK7.5. (I've attached two images)

Biggest difference is the 90/92TSI have the TS in silver and the I in red. The 103/110TSI have the T in silver and the SI in red.

Of course, then VW decided to get rid of the TSI altogether at some point during the 7.5 life 110TSI v 92TSI difference

Rego check seems to indicate that it is a 2017 110kw MK7.5 manual.

Yep, the full black trim (rear valance) at the bottom of the rear bumper, indicates this is either a base model or a Trendline. And those were the only manuals available in the MK7.5 110TSIs.

The lack of parking sensors then definitively point at a base 110TSI (Trendline has front and rear parking sensors).

It is a good car. We (still) have 1 (110TSI Trendline manual) and after 5 (almost 6) years have had only 1 issue with it being a water pump at 23,000km. No other problems at all!
