Thread: What did you do to your Octavia today?

  1. #611

    Stuff I've done so far...

Whilst not theoretically stuff I've done to my car today, it's happened over the last few weeks.
I was at Cars and Coffee in Melbourne on Saturday morning, and thought I may as well take some pictures to show progress.
I have had the car lowered on ST Springs and ST spacers to widen the stance. Also had a set of Magnaflow mufflers installed (have not taken out the resonator). You can see in the pic of the muffler, the little bit of yellow poking through from the spring.
And finally, after an unnecessarily long wait, I have put the VRS badge back on the front grill (yes I know it is offset to factory, I wanted it there).

nice offset and ride height, should've come like that standard!
Disappointing that all the engine noise comes from the front of this car, hopefully the magnaflow has done the job for you.

Here's how the wheel sits in the guard compared with mum's S3... can't let mum have a better 'stance'

I don't think I could bear any lower, these are lower than the MK2s. Sitting in my garage beside each other you really notice the differences, longer, wider and the chin sticking out the front means you have to be really careful with gutters and those parking concrete blocks, its lost about 20cm front room if you can't get over it. The extra length means its a tad trickier already, with the shortness of the Mk2 it didn't matter so much. The poke of those machined bits on the rims though means they are all gonna be scuffed, a very light touch in mine last week ground off metal, the tyre is level with those so no protection there.

I hear what you're saying and deliberated over this for a long time. However, haven't scraped my front (since the car was lowered, did once beforehand on a ****ty bit of road in Collingwood) and have never scuffed a rim on this car in the time I've owned it. So I feel as though my awareness of the size and shape of my car will prevail.

I had my prior Mk2 for 7yrs and sold it with not a mark on the rims. I was so careful with it. So was doubly annoyed I hit something on the drivers side that jutted out in the dark the other week. I knew that bit was there but in pitch black and heavy rain with a person for unknown reasons standing in the middle of our office driveway all things came together to cause a nice scrub. Hopefully the only one I get.

Fitted my front mud flaps . Then ordered a set for the rear and the rear door sill scuff plates . Now the three week wait. The front mud flaps fitted perfectly and took about 5 mins each side . You will need a #5 torque head driver to undo the screws. Dont look out of place on the VRS in my mind.
