Old Parts > New Car: MY10 to MY14 compatibility

    Hey all,

I'm thinking of upgrading to a new Octy in a year or so, but was just wondering if anyone knows what tuning parts will be transferable from my old MY10 RS?

See the list in my signature below...

Obviously I'll have to retune ECU and DSG, but wondering if the shocks, intake exhaust etc and bolt straight on?

And if not, are tuning suppliers now producing the new parts to replace the old model?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Les

I know the TSI exhaust on the new one is double sided like the GTI's (1 pipe on either side) where the TDI is twin pipe one side

Apart from that, its the same engine (mostly) so intake should be fine. No idea about shocks etc though, sorry!

Im going to guess not much is transferrable. Intake takes a slightly different route, I believe the new TSI turbos have a different rear housing so also not possible for downpipe.

Suspension is now on the MQB platform not the A5 chassis so its mostly different. chassis length is different which would also affect the exhaust length and route, not to mention it has twin mufflers (except the diesel)

I would remove all parts from your 2010 model and sell them separately. start from new with the 2014 RS

i too highly doubt any of it will be transferable.
    its a whole new platform.
even the engine is gen 2 of the EA888.

i know apr is already producing tunes and hardware bits for the mk7 golf, which should essentially work for the mk3 octavia.

They're testing the same tunes on the Octy too

Yeah, I guess as much, bummer about the downpipe though, I thought at least I could take that across, It's a pricey part, oh well... I'll just have to start saving now.
