Launch Control with DSG

Has anyone with a DSG tried this?

If I understand correctly you switch off ESP put the car in sport mode and have both brake and accellerator depressed, rev to 3000rpm and then release brake (and hang on) to launch.

After all the discussions with DSG problems that Skoda have faced I'm hesitant in trying...

stupid question but just curious as to what the point of doing that would be? - cant imagine it being the sort of thing that would be advantageous on the road etc

I had this in my R32. Make sure car is well warmed-up. About 10mins does it. Then turn traction off. Put left foot on brake, slowly put foot down on acclerator to ensure this mode is engaged. If it's not you will feel the car trying to push forward, if it is the rev counter will go to 3000 and just stay there. Take foot off brake pedal...............ENJOY!

Much faster take-off, after very slight hesitation. I would say about 3 tenths. Did it numerous times in the R32 with no problem. Great at traffic lights with DSG in paddle mode or Sports.

I didn't say anything about on the road just asked about launch control...
but trackdays well thats another thing

P plate Commodores at the lights sounds like another application for launch control to me.

Why stop @ P plate conformodores...what about HSV badged.
I've already stunned a few drivers just in sports mode off the lights

JAZ-RS you need to wait until operating temp goes to 90c and then follow the steps you mentioned of ESP off, DSG in sport mode then hold the brake stamp the accelerator which will bring revs to about 3-3,500 and then remove your foot from the brake (keeping throttle fully planted). You will get a hesitation and then it will go like a cut snake all on the previso you actually have this enabled on your car.

I have experienced it in both the GTi and R32 but they have had it removed in Golf V platform for about 8 months prior to its production ceased (not sure about golf Vi GTi or R20) and it was never on R36 or CC so it may have been disengaged for whatever reason.

It is not a feature of the car and was more a residual 'override' mode from the S3 and S4 Audis that did have launch control buttons so i don't know whether or not you should be using it and whether by using it you are putting strain on components that are not designed to handle such brutal transition of power?? I say this becuase i know 10/5ths of FA nothing about the ability of the car to deal with this mode when it hasn't been put in as a standard feature or factory option. You may need to get some further 'moe knowledgable' advice before using it as a regular drive day feature if you find it operational.

Launch control is in the manual and it was fitted to MY07 and later models as a feature of the car.

It won't activate if the gearbox is not at operating temperature either.

AFAIK it has been on all cars since MY07 that have DSG, it's possible the later cars that you drove were not at operating temperature.

For correct operating planting your foot isn't a good idea as all you do is light them up, best launches are around 2500-3000 rpm depending on tyres, the road surface and the weather.
