It seems supplies of new Scouts are running low and there will be no more cars brought in until the new model in 2014 – and there is no certainty there will be a Scout version in the new model.
I was told the following by Sydney dealers when buying a new Scout this month :
- The Scout is out of production in Europe for retooling of the factory for the new model and no more factory orders can be submitted.
- Skoda Australia did not order a pool of stock to meet demand through to the end of 2013. The only new Scouts in Australia are what dealers now have in stock. There are only a handful of manuals left and while the position with DSG cars is better, supplies are not expected to last until Christmas.
- There is no certainty there will be a Scout version in the next Octavia. Since the current Scout was created, the Yeti has been introduced for the SUV market and VW has built the Passat based Alltrack for the AWD sedan based wagon market. This begs the question whether there will be a ‘Scout’ version of the Superb.
If you are thing of a new Scout, you may need to move sooner rather than later.
