ok well i finally managed to make a couple of videos of the vibrating/rattling noise my car has been making recently, it only took me about 2 weeks :face palm:, and hoping someone may be able to help... and sorry for the delay between the start of the video and the actually revving to get the sound happening... i was putting my phone on the ground then jumping back in to the car haha
I'm pretty sure that the first video shows the sound a bit better as i stuck my phone under the car for it and the second one is just on the gutter haha
(click on the videos to view them, not sure on how to post them up properly haha)
and my coolant light has been coming on a lot recently and i think i may have found the source for a leak but I'm not quite sure what part it is or if its a common fault so i took a couple of pictures.
and this one shows where the part is a bit better
thanks in advance for any help guys and i can take some better pictures or try and take some better videos too if it would help anyone out a bit more

There's a couple of things to trip you up.
The springy hose clips, not always easy to get off with anything but the proper tool. You can use some vice grips to good effect though.
Then clean up the outlets with some rough emery cloth ( my preferred abrasive ). Of course you need to drain the coolant too.
If that doesn't sort it or the heat exchanger needs to come off. Remove the oil filter, then under that is a 24mm (IIRC) nut which holds on the heat exhanger. There's an O ring at the top under the mount.
PM me an email address and I'll send you a picture of ETKA so you can see the order of things.

im going to say the catalytic converter has died cookie. mine lasted a year like that til the point i almost finished all the material inside and would have been spitting bits at people down the road.
either get the inside bashed out of it, or get a good quality highflow one and have someone cut it in, genuine VW part is soooo expensive as its like half the exhaust system
gave the bora a clean, took it to the MCM meet in melb with the agentz, stanceworks and VWW crew.

Ok thanks for that Dylan I remember you saying when I first posted that it might be that and now I'll just have to think about finding a new one or getting this one "fixed" haha
Edit: dylan would you happen to know what inlet/outlet size the standard cat is??

i had my car on a hoist for other things at the time and my mate gave it a wack and could hear it rattling around inside.
if you have a hoist or a proper jack and some axel stands see if you can get under there and test it, should be mid way along the car, like inline with the back of the front seats...?
All right I'll give it a go when I next get a chance but I've got my half yearly exams starting on Thursday so it might not be for a whiledamn HSC

ummm not idea... think it was the same both ends...
my exhaust guy actually had vw bora in his book so just found a generic one to match the inlet/outlet and length. from memory there is a difference between the 2lt, V5, V6 models too so make sure its to suit a 2lt
In the quest to find my water leak I have:
Pulled out the rear seats, the boot trim and discovered a little water in the corners of the boot are ( the ones under the tail lights).
The passenger side sunroof drain pipe wasn't even connected
Thought I'd have a rest before I remove the head liner![]()
