It does buzz, but somehow I always forget.

If you unlock the doors and don't open any of them, the car automatically relocks itself, after about 30 seconds I think. If you want to leave the windows open a bit when you park, press the button to lock the doors, wait for the window(s) to just about be closed and then press the unlock button again. This will stop the windows closing, then wait for the doors to auto relock and the alarm should arm itself again.

Mk IV Golf has a 2 button remote, no centre button for the boot/hatch since there's no release inside for it.

You can add a 3 button very easily by just buying correct fob and clipping onto one of your existing cut keys - just need to sync the remote -10 second job- then it works perfectly to separately unlock the hatch.

Absolutely no other wiring or coding necessary.

True, I just meant it was 2 button by default. Would that still work though to isolate the hatch lock from the doors? I haven't done the driver's door only mod, auto lock at 30km/h is fine & I can lock everything once inside the car anyway.

I still want distance to empty though, requires a bit more trickery unfortunately. And the cruise control light has never been enabled in the cluster either.

Hatch still locks and unlocks normally with the normal Lock and Unlock buttons (as long as keyhole is set for that)

This extra button just lets you unlock the hatch separately.

You can isolate the hatch by moving the keyhole to a different position and then it wont unlock at all with remote.

The cruise control light is activated by changing a code in the engine ECU with VAGCOM - some cars don't have the facility though - depends on which ECU version you have.

mine is 2004 and came only with a 2-button

All the lights on your dash can be changed so that only certain items come on when you insert the key. IE - only have tips of the needles light up.

DTE requires the sports cluster I think?

Any IMMO 3 dash can have DTE if you wish.

and quick way to check if you have immo 3 dash is if the car and key simble when you turn on the ignition (for immobiliser) is on the right side (speedo), then you have immo 3, and if it's on the left side (in the tacho), then you have immo 2
unfortunately i found out i have immo 3 on the weekend, so my ecu swap did NOT go to plan... (immo 2 requires no codes for swapping ecu's, immo 3 does)

haha, not quite, you need to code the ecu or one of the controllers so that the key fob actually controlls the windows. it might already be coded on the R32, or perhaps someone has already done that mod for you?
but a good tip none the less. just not usefull to me yet!
