Have you actually determined that the thermostat is failing ?
Do you know how to replace the thermostat ?

It does not sound like you have the expertise to diagnose and solve the problem.

Take the car to an expert and have it fixed properly, the 1st time.
There are plenty of VW places in Brisbane that won't try to screw you. Just ask if you need some numbers.
    MK4 GTI - Sold
    MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold

I agree. and if it does happen to be that part, id be going at genuine one, no point in saving a few dollars on something that could go wrong

An alternative to VAG-COM is the vChecker - it does quite a bit of what a VAG-COM cable can do, at a lower price...
    Nothing to see here...

you could also go with a Autel 405 VAG ... I picked up one for cheaper than a vChecker and works great for what I need.
