[VIDEO]Running Problem, Loss in power, Rough idle, Shaking etc...

    hi all

im in my first vw which is a golf 1.8t gti and i love it so far.

but at the moment its hit a few a bump along the road (not literally)

first im experiencing a weird shaking rough idle and 900-1000rpm, the front end literally shakes the whole car

second is that when i drive i can feel it is kinda being restricted at 2000rpm can feel the lack of power
and the vibration caused from this, but it would eventually shoot up after maybe 3000~3500rpm onwards to normal

The annoying problem is this happens randomly, it kinda comes and goes. so i didnt thought much of it

My primary suspicion is the MAF caz it looked rather 'not new' last time i pulled it out.

My car is only running a *DRY* pod filter with the airbox ripped out.

    thanks

NOTE: In the video, car is driving fine UNTILL 1:07 it starts behaving very rough like i have described, then at 2:33 the car drove abnormally faster just briefly, than back to running like crap

get rid of he POD filter and replace the MAF. I killed my MAF when i had the POD filter, they dont like the oil from the filters
Have you tried unplugging the MAF while the engine is running? It should run rougher with MAF unplugged. If nothing changes the MAF is def dead.
Or you can get it scanned

P.S. dont expect much power from a stock 1.8t, they only have 110kw. MK4 GTI is the slowest GTI VW has ever made

Since your running a pod, where is your ignition coil heatsink located now and is it getting enough air?

    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...afe-45277.html

    Otherwise..

Change spark plugs and clean the maf... they are cheap...

If its sitll not fixed after all this.. replace the coil packs?

    anyone else got any ideas?

I agree with Bullsta, what diverter / BOV do you have? Sounds like its blocked off, which would be confusing the EC

If its stock, could be bad. if its a BOV, get a diverter. If you don't know, do you know where to look?

Coilpacks are a lot less likely that the Ignition amp on a MK4. The bolt down ones are pretty reliable IMO.

Sparkplugs and MAF are worth looking at too.

If you can't get it scanned, I'd do the plugs. Then try a MAF followed by an ignition amp.
