    RE: Idle Speed

    Hi All,

    Quick question...

My 2002 GTi seems to idle on 900rpm / 1.2/1.3L/h with Climate Control on.
Is this normal or a little too high?

    Thoughts, opinions...

Sounds OK to me, no idea what the fuel consumption would be at a standstill.

When the engine is cold, I idle at about 1,100 RPM for a few minutes. Once the engine is warm I idle at 900 RPM consistantly. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

i thought all cars were to idle higher on cold start up's then drop when it warms, but my passat doesnt do that, straight to 850-900rpm.

on my astra it idles over 1000rpm and its got a exhuast so it sorta sux coz its loud in d mornings.

My Golf stays a tad high on start up and drops progressively over the first minute. My Nissan though, stays up (and wakes everyone up in the morning!!!). It's a fence rattling note

Just today I have noticed that at nomal operating temperaure that the idle speed remains quite high (1200 - 1400rpm) for about 5sec, then drops to 900rpm. (say stoping at the traffic lights)

Is this something to do with the Throttle Body Alignment Fault Code?

    Has anyone else experienced this?
