    problem or known issue?

    Hi all,
Recently I have experiened a couple of abnormal behavoirs of my MK golf.
    1. can't change gear from P to D. Pull out key and restart engineer then ok.
    2. change gear to R, but car moving forward (flat ground), stop engine, and restart 4 times until hear the "Peep" again.
    3. when start moving, sometimes feel a delay of the engagement of engine and gear box.

Is something not quite right with the computer system or gear box? is this common? Wondering if someone can help me with some advice.

    Thanks in advance.

Could be low oil level in the gearbox causing the delay in going into gear/taking up drive.

A scan with VAG-COM would see if the computer is happy.

    Thanks Gavin,
just wondering, if the transmission oil level is low, should the warning light (if there is one) light up?
I will organise a check soon.
    cheers,

    thanks for the advice mate.
Actually the car was just serviced before NY, and there was no report on transmission stuff. I just spent $1000 on that service including replace brake disk and pad. comparing with my old carmy (99 model), my little golf spent fortune on maintenaince. Is this right!

does brake lights come on each and everytime you apply the brake?

if not it could be the brake switch above your brake pedal.
Otherwise it sounds to me like your auto box's pc is giving up.

    thanks for the hint.
Actually I just replaced two bolds for the brake lights about three weeks ago. the forward problem happend last week, I should check it again.

In regards the transmission, I called VW (glen waverley), they said the transmission system on my 02 golf is "sealed transmission system", doesn't need to top up. is that true?

    Hi Guys,
    Just a quick update.
I had a drive test by VW (Glen Waverley), the mechanics tested the transmission and didn't find anything wrong.
    Cheers,
