Hi, I know the mechanism pretty well. Do you hear the sound at all when you push on the handle ?

    Boot

Open up the back seat & remove the boot trim (many felt covered screws) Once removed, pull the rod that goes to the latch & the boot will open.
You then need to check the back of the switch or solenoid for voltage when switch is activated.

Fixed!!! It was just the main switch had moved out and needed the pin re-seated. Could have been done without removing the whole boot lining and switch assembly. O well, at least ill know for next time!

    Thumbs up

Wow! that's a new one to look out for.
That's never been that simple for me, I've always needed to replace the solenoid or switch.
    Well done!

Jaimo do you know where I can get the black plastic bit that sits next the solenoid. It is a Carrier plate on VW's list but they want 80 $ for it !

    Hi,
Ive got problem with my boot as well - this time the boot will not shut! will stay down but not lock (so the dash light comes on luggage compartment open) the boot handle seems to work ok makes same noise but the latch is not catching at the bottom
You think electric problem or mechanical?

I cant think of the component causing it but open it up and have a look.

Could be a faulty sensor, as I dont think it actually locks so much as doesnt respond to the open command when the car is locked. Thus turning the key will pop her open. But if its not locking more than likely it is something mechanical.
