Looking At Buying A MkIV GTI

    Hey Guys

Test drove a GTI last night. I must say it was very smooth and gears changed well. The car has been well looked after and has all the service books and history.

The one thing i didnt see was the key less entry do these come with that. And in the middle section of the dash cluster is there a little display that is supposed to light up.

    Thanks

Depends what year model it was. Dont quote me but I think it was only the post 2001 models that had the keyless entry as standard. And no the centre of the gauge cluster isnt meant to light up, the Bora I used to have had this feature, it would tell you the fuel consumption, average speed, time taken on trip etc., but it's not in the golf.

Both are standard features with later build Golfs - 2000.5 update - as well as things like aero wipers, slightly different cup holders, smaller side bolsters on Recaros, and sunroofs as an option etc.

I think there was a bit of pick-and-mix going on in late 2000/early 2001.

My 01 GTI has the later wheels *see below*, fully bolstered recaros and optional keyless entry with these frankly awful rubber fobs.

It does not have a digital display between the clocks, just a black panel with a bunch of warning lights.

*these are the wheels that come standard on later GTIs.

(not my car - mine is a five door)

Thanks guys. The rear had the power sockets in the back. The cluster just had the black space so no display just the warning lights on start up.

Do you know if these came with any sort of imobiliser from factory. and had the Mags shown above.
