2.0 petrol bora exhaust emissions check light

is this light supposed to come on whenever the car's ignition is switched on, it does go out after the car is started. just don't recall seeing it before. the car appears to run and smell quite rich at the moment, leaving soot on the driveway, and the fuel economy is crap, only getting around 400k's out of a tank

Check engine light?
Standard mk4 item :p

Regarding the overfueling, go get it scanned.
Prob a o2 sensor or maf died or something

should always come on with ignition and crank and then go straight out, if stays on then you have a issue...VDUB...

these motors are common for O2 No1 sensor and airmass meter issues giving poor acceleration..poor fuel eco ..running rich.. more than likely get the engine check light coming on soon if thats the case... also breather hose on cam cover breaks off causing poor idle and emissions issues..VDUB...400KM to a tank is crazy!! glad i have my 1100km to a tank tdi! ... kidding apart you must have a issue to drop that bad on fuel...
